Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

  • Racism (Anti-Armenianism); a good thing?

What do you think about Anti-Armenianism (racism against the Armenian people), is it benificial for our nation or the opposite? If we look at the jewish people, they have constantly hammered on the fact that (and learned their children) that they are hated and everybody wants to kill them, their anti-Semetic campaign (they can make every little thing anti-Semetic) is huge and millions are spent to keep te anti-Semitism ''alive'', by this way they tend to become more nationalistic.

Armenians in Iran, Lebanon, Syria prospered because they were different than the muslims and were subject to certain parts of discrimination. The assimilation rate is very high for the Armenian diaspora now because there is no more ''discrimination'' and they live in so-called ''Christian'' nations.

The racism in Russia is both positive and negative, ofcourse I regret the human lives that are being lost and am against the violence, but the Armenians realize suddenly that they are ''Armenians'' and not Russians and are beginning to help each other on numerous levels.

The same for Azerbaijan, if they pretended they did not want war and were kind, Armenians probably would have believed them and be tricked again, as we did numerous times in history.

Anti-Armenianism a good thing, yes or no?

Re: Racism (Anti-Armenianism); a good thing?

I saw a documentary where an Armenian boy was murdered by Russian skinheads for absolutely no reason other than being different.

The director of the Human Rights Bureau, Alexander Brod, stated that surveys show xenophobia and other racist expressions are prevalent in 50 percent of Russians.
The Russian National Unity Group (RNE), led by Alexander Barkashov, was founded in 1990 and claims to have members in 250 cities. The RNE adopted the swastika as its symbol, and sees itself as the avant-garde of a coming national revolution; it is critical of other major organizations of the far right, such as that of Vladimir Zhirinovsky. Historian Walter Laqueur calls the RNE far closer to the Nazi model than Zhirinovsky's party. The RNE publishes several news sheets, one of which, Russky poryadok, claims to have a circulation of 150,000. Full members of the RNE are called Soratnik (comrades in arms), and receive combat training at locations near Moscow; many earn a living as security officers and armed guards.
-Laqueur, Walter, Fascism: Past, Present, Future, p. 189
There are many skinhead killings every year in Russia, but there are many many many more beatings, most are not reported. I highly recommend Armenians stay out of Russia, it is extremely dangerous, a 9 year old Tajik girl was murdered and her father beaten by a group of teenage skinheads in Russia not too many years ago as well.

I would suggest everyone read through these Wikipedia pages:

Yes, it's sad that this "Islamophobia" in the west is really just another name for "being racist against anyone who has a Middle-Eastern phenotype".

Yes it is so sad that we in the west don"t want the bountiful benefits of Islam, the pleasures of living in a society that executes clearly evil women for the ungodly crimes of letting themselves be raped, or burying them alive for committing obscene actions like walking around and looking at things. Oh, but of course, whenever some Muslim commits this or that attrocity or expresses this or that outrageous view, we are told by other Muslims and their apologists that "they are not true Muslims". I wonder where the only living "true Muslim" actually is?

If you want to live in your dark hole, then go ahead, just don"t expect anyone but the insane to voluntarily join you, and don"t expect the world to meekly allow itself to be pushed into that hole.

Don't be racist. We're speaking about what are the consequences of racism, and you are clearly the example of what happens when it consumes a person. It is too easy to speak about things you can only see from the outside, without never even bothered to investigate it further.

You are obviously a victim of media brainwashing and of your own prejudices. If you want to live in that dark hole of prejudice and senseless negative feelings towards other people who share different customs, culture and religion...you're lost then.

Actually, most if not all of the killings were done to completely innocent men, women, and children.

I'm not Islamic and don't agree with Islamophobia in the same way I don't agree with any fear/hatred of Christianity or Judaism.

The classic argument used by these right-wing propagandists is that the Orient and the Occident are so radically different that they can't coexist together, when you guys as Armenians know very well they can coexist perfectly.

Don't buy into this whole "Islam is evil" propaganda guys, it's just the new scapegoat used by hateful xenophobes. Love all cultural and religions differences and embrace them.

In Europe there's an anti-Islam movement because it is being flooded with Muslim immigrants who refuse to integrate, and barely know the language and thus only interact in their own communities. They also have many children, thus creating a big demographic problem. Not to mention, you have extremists among them who in the process participate in terrorist activities.

I personally have a problem with the Muslim countries which merge government with religious law (like Iran, Saudi Arabia). Every country in the world should be secular with division in government and religion. A theocratic country is a backwards one.

I agree with secularism 110%, but I don't agree with this anti-Islam movement. The reality is that the majority of Muslims are great people, the reason why European countries have problems with Muslims isn't because they're Muslims, it's because they usually tend to import refugees and lower class immigrants.
