Re: Prospects of a Kurdish state and what it means for Armenia
If we have to exist as a state nation, we must first learn to abandon the community mentality imposed on us by the empires, and adopt a state mentality.
That means, we must begin by abandoning this divisive mentality, for an englobing one.
Not only we must stop artificial divisions between apostolic/catholic/poghokagan grown, but we must englobe the muslim part of us, as part of the national entity.
Today, whether it pleases us or not, there are more muslim Armenians living on Armenian soil, than christians...
The day we do get at this point, where nationality dominates religion, we would have done a huge step.
Considering the point you ignite about gypsies.
There are no Gypsies among Armenians, in Armenia, W or E, as there are in Turkey, Hungary, Greece or Romania.....
What we have are Pochas, who are originally from Gypsie ethnos, but who have integrated and lived along the rest of the Armenian nation for thousands of years now. Their number is very small. They speak the same dialect as their region's remaining Armenians. They were genocided or deported as the rest of the Armenians....
They are effectively part of the Armenian nation, whether you like it or not.
We used to have a Pocha district even in soviet era Yerevan.
So do not see what is the interest of creating or reigniting old/new divide lines?
I do not know the accuracy of Sebastatzi Murad's ethnic background.
For me he is an Armenian fighter from Sebastia, Western Armenia.
Period.
