Don't think of it as Armenia and Turkey aper jan.....think of it as Russia, Iran and NATO. 
As much as Russians and Iranians don't like each other they both know that it would be a disaster if Turkey takes Armenia and Artsakh which effectively means NATO has now surrounded Iran northern fronts up to Baku and for Russia well, it would be a disaster loosing that foothold and now exposing the underbelly of the Bear to NATO.
Luckily Iran provides over 50 percent of the Turkish energy and most of the rest comes from Russia so they know Iran and Russia can bring their miliyary might to out of gas condition, lol.
If present day country called Turkey had oil we be in big trouble.
