- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or

This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

I state again my wife is Persian and knows Iran very well. Secondly Those "Azeris" who look like Persians such as Gogoosh, natuarally are ethnically Persians and have adopted the Azeri language. Those Azeri Turks who look like Azeri Turks, then they are actually Azeri Turks and have not adopted the Azeri language. The majority of Azeri Turks are classified under this category. That is they are really turks. Fairy tales about intermarriage is a modern invention and does not fit into the time where people lived in a tribal life. Kurds do not recognize Azeri Turks as their own people. Neither Armenians. So all these claims are false. Tat and Talysh are different people from Azeri turks. So no Iranian are left for Azeri Turks to claim.

In addition to Azeri Turks do not look like other Iranians, they do not even have Iranian culture. Culturally they are related to Caucasus.

The Azeri separatist are actually are very progressive people trying to avoid all these lies and build their own turkish state.

You are truly confused...so now you are defending Azeri separatists? And you have no idea what you are talking about...there is no way to tell Azeris and Persians apart...and Talysh speak a Persian dialect related to Gilaki and Mazandarani (I am half-Mazandarani)...Talysh, Gilaki and Mazandarani are collectively called "Xezeri" (prounounced "Khazari"...from the word "Khazar" meaning Caspian) dialects. I don't need Mr. Viking telling me what the anthropological roots of my people are...I am one quarter-Azeri myself (my father's mother), and three quarters Persian since Mazandaranis are technically Persian, and my father is half-Persian half-Azeri. I think I know what my relatives look like, thank you very much...I don't need you from Norway living thousands of miles away in southern California to tell me about my people's geneological roots. Azerbaijanis are a mixture of Turkic and Kafkaz (Caucasian) and Iranian (Persian) people. Iranian Azeris are Iranians first, and do not want their own "Turkish" state except for a fringe group on CIA payroll.

One more point...Azeris have more Iranian genes than anything else...read Kasravi's book please.

My Posts are written by my Persian wife. So you are talking to a Persian.

I am sorry to say that genetically half this and half that does not work with Azeris. Azeris are totally different ethnic group from Persians. Half Persian half Azeri is an Azeri Turk and not a Persian. Also most Azeris claim that they are from Mazandaran even there are not many Azeris in Mazandaran. I wonder why so many Azeris are from Mazandaran?

there is no way to tell Azeris and Persians apart.
You can see a slideshow of Azeri Turks and Persians and you will agree that they look totally different. I also add afghans where no Azeri turk live. It also confirms the difference between Persians and Azeri Turks. Also what Iranian tribe does Azeri Turks belong? There is no Iranian in general.

Kasravi lived in 1800-1900. He did not know anything about DNA.

The Azeri separatist are actually have a right to decide their future.Persians will in any case separate from Azeri Turks. That is the position of Persian separatist.

As far as Armenians are concerned, it is better for them to deal with Iran as a Persian state than Iran as half Azeri Turk state. You never know when the two Azeri Turk states in the region settle their differences and pose a real danger to Armenia. Iran will not have those limitations if Iran discards the Azeri Turk areas in Iran and turns into a Persian state.

As far as I know most Azeris claim they are Persians and are from Mashahd or North. From their writings it is clear that they are actually Azeri Turks.

                    Re: Azeris in Iran

                    Hello friends!

I noticed this thread and since I'm an azeri from Iran i thought i could give my opinion, that may be interesting for some of you.

Firstly, this issue very complicated, but I'll do my best.

The azeris are not the same people as the ottoman turks. We are both considered turanian peoples, but we aren't all the same. The turkic speaking peoples are found everywhere from siberia to the balkans and genetically or culturally they aren't so close. Not even the azeris of azerbaijan and iran are so close anymore. Some so called turks aren't more close to each other than some so called indo-europeans are. A azeri doesn't understand a word a siberian turk says.

And in fact the azeris and the armenians have always had good relations, believe it or not. Let me explain.

Historically for example. Are you familiar with the safavid dynasty of Iran? It was ruled by azeri rulers, and these hired thousands of armenian craftsmen to iran and it is since then iran has large armenian communities in the cities. The safavids formed a great nation in the iranian plateau, that was gone after the arabs conquered the sassanid persian empire. The Persians consider the azeri rulers as a part of iranian history.

You can read about the safavid empire here:

A few years ago I visted the Naqsh-e Jahan and it was partially built with help of armenians i I remember correctly. I also visited some of you're beautiful churches there.

                    Beautiful buldings. Example:

In our hometown of iranian azerbaijan, Tabriz, there is also a armenian community that is very respected. My aunt lives in one of their districts and the relations are very harmonical and warm.

If you didn't know the azeris actually fought the Ottoman empire. We are our own people, we are caucasians peoples, not anatolians. We azeris had nothing to do with the horrific genocide and it's very unfortunate if you consider us enemies after all those years of peace and friendship. Genetically, armenians and azeris are very close actually. I read a study that showed that. I will look for it and send it here. By the way, my granparents where partially iranian armenian. That proofs alot.

The azeris are between two worlds. On one side the pan-turkists claim our culture and on the other side pan-iranian persians claim we are iranian. Who cares really? Those people live in the 19 centaury ...

And I have read some things that "Oslonor" have written and it seems like his a bit crazy. Someone should give that poor non-iranian a ticket to persian iran and then azerbaijan iran so he can study the phentypes of the two peoples. It seems like he thinks that persians look like germans. Haha. That's incorrect since they are middle-eastern iranid type. The azeris are mainly of armenoid race and it seems lika he has racists views about that.

There is no azeri conspiracy (lol) and iran is lead by persians mainly. But there are persianized azeris, arabs, lur and so on political leaders. And his statemens are contradictorily. He says iran is lead by evil azeri pan-turkists and yet iran is armenian friendly.

In iran there are minor problems with the minorities such as the azeris or kurds. But it isn't lika other countries. The worst part of discrimination is against those of other religious believes than shia-islam, and that is a shame.

But calling Ahmadinjead or the iranian regime pan-turkist is really silly. The pan-turkists hate the regime since they are suppressed by it. Most of the azeris aren't pan-turkists though, but many of them want more freedom to live as they wish, just like the iranian armenians, or maybe even the persians (everyone but the shiaislamists are supressed). The iranian regime is pan-islamist but scenondly pan-iranian/persian.

The reason why Ahmadinejad speaks azeri is because he was dictatorgovernor of Ardebil, a azerbaijani city. But he is persian. Anyway everyone hates him, so does the persians, and everyone else.

I hope my english isn't to awful and that I have shed some light on this issue.

It's very late and I must get some sleep now

                    Good night friends of Hayastan.

Hello IranianAzeri! I am an Armenian. I am very glad that you think that the Armenian Genocide was real (which it was), but what confuses me is that you say that Azeris aren't at all related to the Ottoman Turks, but I've always heard that Azeris claimed that they were part of the Turkish group. Could you please explain this?
