well, I just looked at the wikipedia articles for Caucasoid, Mongoloid and Negroid. The descriptions of their phenotypes are listed near the end of the respective pages (except Caucasoid, who's description is not included on wikipedia it seems). There's a lot of criticism about the usage of these terms and their basis for differentiating populations of mankind, as genetics does not seem to support it, nor do the fact that as Anonymouse puts it, "Differences are in degrees, not in kinds". In reality, you find overlap in the distribution of traits that apparently belong to these arbitrary racial categories in a given group.

Defenders of this kind of rigid basis for racial differentiation find the easy way out by just saying "well... Caucasoids and Mongoloids mixed there". Anyway, I don't know exactly how scientific it all is (afterall, genetic ancestry does not seem to correlate neatly with human phenotypes), but what I do know is that facial recognition is important to us humans, and that these classifications of phenotypes are intuitive for many of us, and so they will continue to be used by mankind as a basis for differentiation or recognition between groups of people.

How many times do I have to explain this to you folks? "Europe" and "European" are artificial constructs. They are descriptive terms that reference geographic points. "Europe" isn't really a continent, but a self-conscious effort on the part of Western Europeans to divide themselves from the rest of the Asiatic land mass by artificially drawing a boundary at the Urals. Over time, the concept of what is "Europe" or "Europa" has changed. The idea of what was "Europa" to the Holy Roman Empire is different from what was Europe in the 19th century, to what is Europe now. Stop trying to pit Armenians as "Europeans". I have seen maps that have desperately tried to include Armenia within the boundaries of what is referred to as "Europe" and I have seen most maps that properly label Armenia in "Asia". It does not matter. "Europe" is actually part of the "Eur-Asian" landmass. Get over it and let's bury this ridiculous discussion.

Go and see Armenian streets. People dress European, stores are European, and people themselves think of them as Europeans. With Armenia being a EU (European Union!) candidate and chances increasing everyday. Even Serzh, our president, said to Euronews that no matter what anybody thinks Armenians think of themselves as a European nation and he's right. Check the video I post before. We're not middle-eastern, we're not asian. We're people of the Caucasus mountains, indo-europeans, and in all Europeans. But this is a ridiculous discussion anyways.

Why should we have to pass off as some Western European affiliate identity anyway? I think it stands in the way of connecting to the center of gravity of our civilization proper.

German66, most Armenians have dark hair, brown eyes and white skin so yes they are white which is why 50% of the population has the A European blood type. There are also blonde Armenians that are scattered through out Armenia; I believe the original Armenians were probably blonde but they got mixed due to the number of times we have been attacked and many times our women were stolen. My mom is pure Armenian and everyone in her family has blonde hair and blue eyes. The blonde Armenians are probably related to the celtic and germanic/nordic people. I believe about 20% of the population in Armenia has the B blood type and they are mixed with Arab/Asian blood and thus have darken skin.

Why are some armenians so desperate to be considered "white" and "european"?

My dad is one of those people. One time I pointed armenia was in asia my dad went nooo it's in europe. My mom considers armenia as a country in asia! Why? Because it is. It's not like armenia is located on a map of europe. Just why not take it as a country in asia? It's not like armenia being in asia is going to make armenians inferior.. ROFL.. Is it? I didn't think so.
