What cultural traits do Armenians share?

ok. i live in new york and in a juish area and i kind of look like one, so everybody thinks i am and i get "shabat shaloms" everywhere i go! what do we have in common? a lot. except for the religion.

While the last two posts are riveting, what I'm trying to find out is: What characteristics do we share as a people, if any? Do we even have a stereotype? When people make jokes about us, is there a common thread? Or are we so unknown and so assimilating that we have no national identity?

I dont see any resemblencs with christianity and judiism , do you know why?? Because they are two different religions...meaning different ideologies.So if we are to GEneralize in wich this thread is all about...i cant see the simliarites between someone who has a faith wich is jewish and someone who is armeanin by nation. I dont in any way aproof of their thieve acting ways , in wich you mentioned goes on in ISrael and so on.


Sadly, i dont give a damn anymore about jews this and that.I dont give a xxxx about jews...or if you like them. Its fine if you like jews just dont stick it into my face...you can answear for me as only I can answear for myself.

i happened to be listening to the radio today and they were discussing the armenian guyes that got caught selling weapon or smth. so one man calls and says: "i used to live with armenians and they are the nastiest people i ever knew, they would sell even their mother just to get profit". i mean, come on, dont you know that there are good and bad people in every nation? what is this "i hate jews" talk for? i personally dont think that they are any different from regular people. maybe in a better way, cuz they keep to the traditions and marry their own nation, which makes them definitely stronger in general

well, since our nation is not really known to americans we dont usually meet stereotypes. but if you ask for example russian people, you will. they picture us more like greeks. if you saw "my big fat greek wedding" and have ever been to an armenian one you could tell that there is a lot in common.

Thank you. I have never been to an Armenian anything and am so happy to have a frame of reference. I'm going out right after posting this to rent "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." Any books, articles or films...anything that will give me a clue about Armenian culture/identity is so welcome!

Today my geography prof said that Hebrew is the source of Aramaic, which I do not agree with, but anyway... it reminded me of something I saw on the Russian channel a few months ago.

There was a show about Armenians in Israel, and an Armenian woman was talking about how Hebrew and Armenian are very similar (she speaks both), and went on to hypothesize that they are similar because they come from the same language - Aramaic. She said that she has spoken to linguists, and they agreed.

Am I the only one who thinks that this is balogna??? None of my research has ever suggested that Armenian and Hebrew have the same origin. Hebrew - Semitic group Armenian - Indo-European group....no same source

That woman is stupid and she never spoke to any linguists. Even dwarfs and smurfs know Armenian is an Indo-European language, not Semetic.
