Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!


2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."

      I think the racial hatred deployed in this forum (by some extremists) is a problem that must be tackled.

          I agree, but how do we tackle it? There's a fine line between senseless censorship and banning hate speech. Generally, my view has always been that the marketplace of ideas will work itself out, so that harmful ideas are left by the roadside while helpful ideas are further explored. I'm not worried that these racist ideas are going to take hold in this forum or among Armenians in general. But at the same time, I think a few bad apples can really distract us from the theme, and get us talking about stupid and worthless topics. I'm also concerned that a few bad apples are enough to spoil our (Armenian) reputation.

            I agrre with you on many points.But I think racist will get stronger day by day in real life and here in this forum.

              Noyan Tapan by the Armenology Department of the Hebrew University,
              Archbishop Torgom Manukian, the Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem will
              participate in this event of painful memories and self-examination,
              but aimed to beleif and optimism. Yossi Sarid, a member of the
              Israel Knesset, and Professor Abraham Terian, a famous Armenologist
              awarded the "Fullbright" grant will make the main speeches during
              the evening. Tsolak Momjian, the Honourary Consul of the Republic of
              Armenia and Professor Michael E.Stone, the Chief of the Armenology
              Department of the Hebrew University, the organizer of the evening
              will aslo make speeches. The reception that will start at 18:30,
              and the official event following it at 19:00, will take place in the
              "Beit Belgia" subsidiary building of the Givat Ram campus of the
              Hebrew University.

                  But I dont think that Istanbul Armenians in general think like average other diaspora Armenians.

                  I know Armenians who wouldnt shake hand with a Turk(this actually happened to a person I know). Also a friend of mine who atteneded college at USC had a friend who is Armenian(just fr a very short amount of time), when that Armenian learned that my friend is Turkish, he quit speaking and behave as if my friend non-existing. My friend didnt care about it but he couldnt comrehend why did that.
                  As I understand Istanbul Armenians in LA are not like that. Thye might participate political rallies but I dont think that they would ever burn Turkish flag like other political groups do.

                    Just out of curiosity, can you tell us why jews denying the Armenian Genocide is only shameful, but not racist, yet Armenians are called racists, Nazis etc etc etc?

                    Is it possible for jews to be racists, or are they only victims?

                      I have my opinions and I've certainly come accross racist Jews - very much so - just as there are racists from all groups - some more then others though it seems - and you are likely increasing the statistics for whatever group you belong to.

                      However as for answering any question from you - up yours - you don't deserve xxxx. We don't need your types comming onto a forum concerning the Armenian Genocide and constantly ranting about Jews. I know this gets you off - but we don't need it. It is neither useful nor interesting nor particularly helpful to anyone - and particulalry not now when there might be folks trying to check out info and facts concerning the Genocide (in response to publicity from this new film to be shown on PBS and because of events around April 24) and instead wht they will see are racist rants concerning Jews. These hurt our cause - because others can (rightly?) catagorize us as among the haters - like those who cause these things (genocides). They will look here and see ugly Armenians like you and conclude that Armenians were probably deserving of what they got. But you don't represent Armenians (and I don't claim to either - never had - but at least Iam not an embarrasment). Anyway I've wasted far too much time on you and your type already here. Get lost.
