And expensive. It sold for $250 on ebay (which is where the pictures came from). I wonder if there were printed books in Kurdish at that time?

And in which dialect of Kurdish is it printed in? Zaza, I think, is the one spoken in Dersim.

Yes, I've heard that said, and that Zaza isn't really Kurdish at all but it is a separate language which contains a lot of Kurdish words. Zaza is also spoken in the Muş valley.

The winning bid was someone from Turkey. An Armenian didnt even win this item.

What do you think this Ottoman telegram says?

I bet its kind of order to soldiers to massacre some village.

The Turk selling these things probably found them in Armenian houses and is selling them now to make mega profit. Sounds like a Turk thing to do.

                    ?

I know what the topic of the thread is. "Am I Armenian?"

Apparantly the person in question is not, but passes himself off as an Armenian (and gives us a bad name in the process), which is on the topic of the thread.

Personal attacks? My my, so touchy. I find the apauling behaviour of such people utterly disgusting and you seem to find it as something acceptable that shouldn't even be criticized.

He has even written: This was 2 years ago...and yes "average Turk" - be it in Turkey or elsewhere is a worthwhile person with dignity, honesty, integrity, heart and humanity. I have quite enjoyed most of my actual encounters with Turks (other the the internet) and have had a number of good friendships with Turks.

I wonder what would happen if someone wrote that the "average Nazi" is a worthwhile person with dignity, honesty, integrity, heart and humanity.

That's not necessarily bad - it proves that there is an interest in historical objects in Turkey. and that someone there is willing to pay quite a lot for it. At that price I think it was a bit overpriced. (Interestingly, the same buyer has been buying old Greek books as well.)

                      I doubt it!

It's in Italian - sent from Odessa in Russia to Pera in Constantinople via Varna in Romania. Addressed to the Italian Consulate.

                      Dated 1866.
