  • Please Sign This Petition: Özür diliyoruz

    "My conscience does not accept the insensitivity showed to and the denial of the Great Catastrophe that the Ottoman Armenians were subjected to in 1915. I reject this injustice and for my share, I empathise with the feelings and pain of my Armenian brothers. I apologise to them."

    This public statement, made by a group of Turkish intellectuals apologizing for the events of 1915, has created uproar in Turkey and has lead to a backlash within national circles there. The statement is the initiative of three scholars, Ahmet Insel, Baskin Oran and Cengiz Aktar, and a journalist, Ali Bayramoglu.

    1915'te Osmanlı Ermenileri'nin maruz kaldığı Büyük Felâket'e duyarsız kalınmasını, bunun inkâr edilmesini vicdanım kabul etmiyor.Bu adaletsizliği reddediyor, kendi payıma Ermeni kardeşlerimin duygu ve acılarını paylaşıyor, onlardan özür diliyorum.

      Now that's a step forward. It's not much but it gives us great hope. 4800 down, MILLIONS to go and I'm sure we'll be alive, lol, to see that happen. Times are changing very fast, faster then we think.

      A sincere thanks to all that signed.

          Over 7,000 now. This is very encouraging and should give us hope. It is the duty of Armenians to know this and to try a stop labeling all Turks as liars/denialists/fascists etc. The taboo is slowly fading but will take much more time.

            let's see how long will it take the turkish nationalist lamers to hack this site and put a giant turkish flag. unless turk telekom bans it first, of course.

            7310, for now.

              Great point and I'm sure the numbers will be going much higher at this rate. I'll try to get this known on other sites. I think this is great news and many probably don't know.

                I hope your wrong but we'll have to wait and see. So far, the ruling party has been silent on the issue but if the NAP and CHP raise enough of a ruckus, the AKP will have to do something. Even though some Armenians will say that the petition is not enough, I think the signatories are brave and they are the ones who might face jail, harrassment, etc. We should not abandon them.

                  Seems like, one out of three Armenians from Gilikia I speak to remembers a non-Armenian that helped escape their father, or grandfather during AG,those heroes names must be collected and put on a monument in their memory,with these signatures.

                  First, it is ridiculed;
                  Second, it is violently opposed; and
                  Third, it is accepted as self-evident."

                    they'll call us "agents, liars, etc." but I'm sure we won't face jailtime. looking forward to hear devlet bahçeli's voice. "KANSIZLAAAR, SOYSUZLAAAR, AJANLAAARR" haha he is totally a joke.
