I went through the period where I envied others my age who were working pt at best, not in school (or didn't care as much), and just having fun. I was overwhelmed by the pressure to do well and get into a good grad program, etc...
I thought about what it would be like not to have to think about your future that way and just to get a job after BA, so at least when you're finished at 5pm, you can leave and leave work behind you. Academics doesn't work that way.
This didn't last too long though. I decided that I loved what I was doing and even though it meant more sacrifice now, I would be better off and happier later.

Others who have all that, would/are probably envious of you.
Think about what you like about your career. Would you be willing to give that up for a few more weekend movies?

hm - Nune - you are still very young and have a whole lifetime ahead of you. Do not feel at all constrained. If you feel that your life is not what you want it right now - make a change - I mean what real obligations do you have now (besides paying off that new car - congrats BTW! - [and I do hope you got a 5 speed to really have fun with it!]). I understand your dilema - though I have ussually always felt fairly balanced with work & play - but I made it a point to do so - as when I was young I did go through a period of working way too hard. And its when you have a family and real obligations that you will feel constrained and unable to make choices but feel locked into a pattern - so by all means do the fun stuff now!

i was reading up on it since i thought there might be some information i could use... and i found out that YES! in fact i am suffering from this... usually its from starting your career too soon and being in the middle of going up the company ladder, etc... and all of sudden you realize you are too young to be there because everyone else is 30 years older then you. so i started to panic... i dont know if its good or bad... i dont know when i'll get married or if i will have children... it seems as though i should've waited and had more fun before i ventured into this...

AND i totally envy those that have the ability to go on vacations, go to movies on the weekend, etc... beacuse i cant i have deadlines, bosses, executive lunches, a s s kissing, budgeting, planning, talking, presenting, analyzing, preparing, dressing up, dressing down, flying to another state "just to be nice", pushing people to finish their work so you can finish yours, being bossy (although i like that), being bosses around (HATE IT!), have back pain from sitting in front of the computer too long, etc... my head HURTS!

What do you think? do you think you are lucky that you have time to be young?

my biological age is 24 my mental age at work is 45 and my mental age with friends is 12... you see how it can f*ck with you...

I expect, based on family and medical history, to live a very long time, so I never worried about rushing into life. Still, provided you don't die or go insane along the way, you'll have the last laugh when you retire younger than the people you envy now. Sounds to me like you just chose the wrong job. Who on earth wants to sit around staring at a computer for 8 hours a day (I mean, besides Anonymouse)?

To deal with your stress: Why don't you try weekly massage, pilates, yoga? You can even meditate on your own whenever you feel the need.

You are happy with your life, arent you? You dont need any major changes. Just find a good way to release stress. You MUST have time for THAT, and if you dont - make some. Its important.
