First of all, I don't think it's demeaning to have children. I have made my choice for very different reasons.

Now. I don't care about HOW assimilation occurs. I care about WHAT causes it. When you have found the answer to that, you may have found the answer to what we should do as a nation to decrease our assimilation rate drastically.

TI am not blaming innocent Armenians. I only blame those who I rightfully see as those who hinder the progress of our nation. Is that not what you said? You probably clear saw Armenian and see me as those who hinder progress.

You will only be hindering the progress if you blind your eyes to our real problems and keep covering them up with our superficial problems. You recognize the fact that we have a failing leadership, yet you don't seem to want to do anything about it. Instead, you are blaming individual Armenians for not having more kids and educating them -- with what, you still have not explained. I think it's pretty clear that our problem is a weak homeland and a dying out diaspora caused by a failing leadership. What are YOU planning on doing about it? And don't look at me, because I'm already in the process of doing my share.

The problems that face us are not superficial as you would like to believe. Focusing on leadership is not the issue, hence all the Armenian intellectuals that criticize Armenian leadership is not going to do anything. Politics cannot be reformed for it is naturally and inherently an immoral and pointless endeavor and only for the vile and villain and I don't like any politician, just like I have no love for any cop. In the case of Armenians, their weak geopolitical position and nation do not do anything in their favor either, nevermind the fact Armenians themselves love to pick on each other, and this being an Armenian phenomenon over time. A missplaced faith in politics and political institutions is a fools game and it is what has left Armenians in the dark. They all want to be leaders and all love to criticize and they all have grand solutions, yet at the same time they are all waiting for 'good leadership' and 'solutions'. Which is it? You cannot have both. More politics and political leadership are not what will help Armenia, but Armenians themselves. Mr. Baliozian mentioned self-reliance, and I agree with him. Armenians are not a self-reliant people. Politics and political institutions cannot reward Armenians with anything anymore than they have already done, but they will bankrupt them and make them poorer, spiritually and economically.

I blame individual Armenians, because, like you, they are waiting to be led by some or such, or for "solutions". Instead, they cannot realize that each of them individually, and the work they must do far outweighs what any politician or 'leadership' will or can do. Solutions are everywhere among and around us, all one must do is as easy as willing to do.

My goals are to further reinforce my Armenian and in the future to be able to buy my house in Armenia. I want to have a family and raise an Armenian family. That is my goal, and only by extending our generations will Armenia survive. You seem to forget that and you have a misplaced faith in politics and political leadership and no faith in blood. Forget trying to 'convert' lost Armenians, for if they left, we don't need them. They are inverted and a detriment and the time spent trying to 'convert' them is wasted and can instead be better spent on educating the up and coming generation, or our own children. Forget politicos, for politics is not a means to an end, but the end itself. What is your point? What is your goal? Do you have a goal, or a purpose? What exactly is your share? Or are you living a life that one could characterize with the word molorial? To me, the survival of Armenia and Armenians, to be extended as long as possible, is the goal, and the means are whatever will work to that end. Politics and political institutions lose their meaning over time because they operate not as a means for the furtherance of a more noble and sublime goals, but only for their austere survival and of the bureaucrats that wield them who become increasingly dependent on these institutions.

Armenia doesn't need more leadership, more bishops, more bosses, more politicians, it needs more Armenians.

Let's compare two groups of people. The Mexicans and the Armenians. The Mexicans, in this day and age number over 100 million and growing, their language no sign of dying. They have a vast land and are in the process of acquiring the American southwest through time, by the simple fact of growing and extending themselves. They are so large in number and their genes dominant and culture plenty that they have no fear of 'mixing' or having a few bums 'abandoning' their culture, for they will only absorb foreigners and easily replenish numbers. Armenians on the other hand, are a different civilization. They are aging and their culture is dying, for reasons we cannot assess except that the best we can say is Armenians are otaramol. For some reason or other, they just innately gravitate toward things non-Armenian. As sad as it is, it is not a call for defeatism. And no matter what, a fight deserves to be put up. You are not wrong when you say Armenians hate Armenian culture, and I don't care unlike you, about the why (and the what is pretty obvious). All I care is, if that is what some Armenians want or choose to do, good riddens, they are better off not calling themselves Armenian. And you can imagine that in the diaspora, some Armenians like Anahita (I don't even know if she is fully Armenian, perhaps a mutt), are more concerned with trees than Armenia.

And do you want to know what causes assimilation? Multiculturalism and multicultural societies. By living in the diaspora we are ipso facto open to the torrents of dilution. It is not like before in the age of empires where there were natural lines of division between peoples, races and cultures and the world more than anything is integrated for good and bad, unfortunately. As long as we live in the diaspora, we will assimilate and we don't disagree here. But we must try to resist as long as possible to one day grace Armenia. Now, while a few minority such as you and me, are and might be conscious of these issues of assimilation and dilution, your average Armenian might not be. Educating them beyond the point of no return when they are teens or young adults is pointless. Their minds have already formed, their ideologies set, and their paradigms established. There is a reason why the young mind of a child is fresh and ripe for the intake of knowledge, and that is where it begins.

While I don't agree with everything here, I do agree with most of it, and if you would care to read, and I know you won't agree with anything, but perhaps you will see where I am coming from.

I'm sorry, I haven't read your entire speech, since I kind of stopped after you said that politics should not be of our concern since we can't change it anyway. Defeatist? Not only that. How can you move back to an Armenia and raise your kids when it is economically and politically a complete mess? When tens of thousands are lined up to get the hell out? First things first. We need to create an environment that is welcoming to us diasporans. As long as that is not the case, you can call yourself a martyr, but you won't see many following in your footsteps.

WRONG! We have always been on the verge of extinction, ever since we were conceived. If it is true that we are xenophiles, we must have very good reasons for it, namely, that our culture is worthless and useless to us. Make the culture more attractive and important, and next thing you know, you might have practically the entire world findings its ancestral roots in Armenians. There you have your big, expanded nation.

Seriously though, Armenia has great potential and many diasporans have been making investments. But many doesn't seem to be enough.
