Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

That's like saying not to look into the casket of your dead grandmother because you're not going to like what you see. It's not that people can't stomach it, they just don't find it funny because it's culturally repulsive.

as i was taught, we need to look because we need closure and usually the corpse is very prettily done so as to attempt to preserve their image as they were in life.

though I don't see how these situations are comparable. It's like if you heard these outloud - if you had a friend who constantly told sick jokes, you wouldn't hang out with them because you wouldn't want to hear it; and they wouldn't want to hang out with you because you won't laugh. In either situation, one of the parties cease.

It's a similar situation except not nearly as complicated in "real life" human social behavior/interaction. On this thread, all you guys have to do is not click on the thread and read this stuff. It's your choice. Because it's your choice, you guys can also continue coming onto this thread and getting repulsed.

Though, that really makes no sense as to why someone'd willing do that. It would be a similar situation as to burning your hand on the stove. To avoid it, all you had to do is not put your hand on the stove while it's hot. Why would you repeatedly put your hand on the stove if you do not enjoy the feeling?

You truly are trying to live up to your Inquisitive Chatterbox title aren't you?

I chose the name because it quite clearly demonstrates my personality now doesn't it?

i am completely baffled by this scenario, which is why i'm trying to get some sort of understanding on it. To me and most everyone I know, it is "common sense" to avoid such a thread if it's repulsive. Yet, here, this is definitely not the case. So, I'm asking questions.

I apologize if I have come across as annoying to you. I appreciate you having taken the time and patience to throw in your ideas.

              That could be debated, actually

There's the human guinea pigs. Anthropology, sociology, psychology, and even some others (physiology, biology, etc) have used humans as specimens in an experiment and/or analyze a given situation like it is an experiment... which is almost what I'm doing, but I'm not going that far.

You see, you could almost take my mere presence here like a researcher and all my interactions with this forum are like different variables in an experiment (which is not why I'm here, but a sociologist would argue I'm doing this unconsciously). I'm doing "participant observation," as one of my methods. I have joined this forum, I have been active in it by chatting on the threads and holding various PM discussions, and I have been learning about the various interactions. For instance, i believe it was you, KanadaHye, who had to explain to me (then I believe it was Mos who reinforced your point with his own observance) that it is very common for Armenian males to be very argumentative when they're "discussing."

So, even virtually I am 'studying' human nature; which by the way, in sociology, is becoming its own type of "socialization group". It used to be primary vs secondary (intimate vs distant) but thanks to the internet, online communities and so forth, there's the emergence of the "tertiary" group -- which, as you may have guessed, is no face-to-face interation (most of the users here do not have a profile picture of themselves, and I don't see any avatars that involves their own face especially).

...and all that just made me realize how disturbing sociology can be.

                  Voted Best Joke in Ireland

John O'Reilly hoisted his beer and said, "Here's to spending the rest of me life,
between the legs of me wife!"

That won him the top prize at the pub for the best toast of the night!

He went home and told his wife, Mary, "I won the prize for the Best toast of the night."
She said, "Aye, did ye now. And what was your toast?" John said, "Here's to spending
the rest of me life, sitting in church beside me wife."

"Oh, that is very nice indeed, John!" Mary said.

The next day, Mary ran into one of John's drinking buddies on the street corner.

The man chuckled leeringly and said, "John won the prize the other night at the pub
with a toast about you, Mary."

She said, "Aye, he told me, and I was a bit surprised myself. You know, he's only
been in there twice in the last four years. Once he fell asleep, and the other time
I had to pull him by the ears to make him come."
