Quarteria, I never meant to offend you by asking if a full-Armenian or an American-Armenian could answer my question or give me advice. You gave me your pice of mind regardless. Thank you. Every little pice of advice people on this board have given me is helpful. I keep thinking about him because sometimes you just don't wanna perceive the obvious facts, especially when your emotions come into play. I think that's only human. You were right when you said that he would have called me if he was sure about our relationship and its outcome.

hahaha hate to tell you Marina...but you're just another notch in this guys belt....Armenian men are taught to mess around w/any race they want, basically screw who they want, but when it comes down to having a family...she better be a "respectable" Armenian girl...

Marine jan, As mentioned earlier in this thread by bell-the-cat. I am sad eyes, and I was in a simular situation as you, only he did want to marry me as well. We dated for 2 years and he did love me, we loved each other very much to be honest with you, but what seperated us? The fact that I wasnt armenian, his family would never approve of me and in the end he decided to marry an armenian girl.

I understand your attraction to the armenian culture. It is beautiful isnt it? And yes, the men are attractive. (heck, they are sexy!) Armenians in general have this...magic about them. I am sure you are aware of what I am speaking of. But the bottom line is that most of them abide by their ways of life, IE-continueing armenian tradition, their name, etc.,thus marrying armenians. Yes, there are a handful of armenians out there who choose to marry odars as ourselves but the majority of them stick with their own. I have learned alot from armenians and they can teach you alot about life. Since knowing them I have become a better person. The values they have, what you can learn from them I suggest you take them to heart and cherish what you have now, friendship and learn what you can from that. I highly doubt that his family would ever approve of your relationship, so it would come down to his own decision about you. And, because of the way armenians are, I am afraid that he would not change his mind. Family is EXTREAMLY important to armenians, extreamly. The have suffered alot throughout history And so it is important to preserve what small culture they have. They are proud of who they are, where they come from. Especially the older generations, who constantly remind the younger generations how important it is to keep thier traditions. Bottom line all I have to say is that if you are going to try to form a relationship, his family wont approve. Yes they may think you are a good girl, but the fact that you are not armenian is never going to be ok with them. It took me a longggg time to accept that fact, but I am now better because I did. Its true when you marry an armenian, you marry their family (I liked his family very much by the way) Although he did break my heart in the end, I learned from it. And...I respect him, I can say that. I love my family to death and have been in a situation before where I had to choose between my family and a man. I chose my family. Because family is sooooo important. I respect Levon...because he was in a situation where he had to choose, and he chose his family...and I know despite of how much I loved him that it was the right thing to do...if you two were to get close, it would only become that much more difficult to understand why he would leave you in the end....value the friendship you two have. But if you choose to go and give it a try, all the best of luck to you both.

Marina, your significant other (better term than "special" friend) is not at fault so much for being unable to shake off his feelings of duty and obligation to his family/nation as much as for being childish and selfish for getting into a relationship with a person, that we must have known he could not have a future with for these reasons. That said, people do make mistakes and it could be that this was his first serious relationship and he hadn't thought that much ahead (which is still childish if you ask me). In this case, I'm sorry to say, your experience could very well be an eye-opening one for him and you and not much more. Hopefully, he will be less careless in the future. If not, then he is too egotistical to care about anyway.

Well I'm drunk tonight.
Went out and partied by myself at one of the other local pubs.
Lots of hot xxxxxes surprisingly in this xxxxty little hick town. I guess Horrorville is turning into a pretty happening place after all. Unless all of them commuted out from Chico to here...which obviously aint worth xxxx.

Couple xxxxxes gave me a few eye contact stares. It warmed my rotten little
neurotic heart. Too bad I didn't have the guts as usual to buy them a drink. But towards the end I did give the rest of my pitcher to one okay looking female who caught my attention. She gave it to her friends.


My plan is to steadily build up my reputation at two places I frequent. The old place, and this new one. xxxx Chico. 3 bucks a gallon for each ride to and fro. I could buy at least 2-3 drinks with that. And the same hot xxxxx and all!

Alcohol has given me a new lease on the pleasures of life.
