I say գազար (gazar) normally, but just sometimes (rarely) the Farsi havij slips out of my mouth. Why?

Turkish is havooj(ch)... isn't there anything they haven't stolen?

*gasps* That's right!!! I forgot that havij is the farsi!@#!@ Wiktionary lists the origin of gazar as persian , so I didn't even think about it! Fed was insisting we use ստեպղին instead so it's not a borrowed word. Oooooh Fed...

I can't believe that after all that, it turns out like this *Pinches your cheeks* I will keep to my cooler sounding ստեպղին, merci bye!

The word for carrot in Armenia is pronounced gyazar not gazar. I don't have armenian fonts to show spelling in armenian.

Lucin is right. It seems to be գազար. Wiktionary confirms գյազար as being dialectal.

I checked three different dictionaries and wiktionary... All say զազար. Which is also how the basgahyes pronounce it. I can't say I've had occasion to hear a hayastranci say it, so I don't know if "gyazar" is widespead in Armenia.

"havooj"? It was funny. But yea, steal, distort and appropriate is quite natural to them and inherent in their being.

notice the difference in spelling between the titles of the two vids and listen to the song he says gyazar not gazar.

Why should we read "gyazar" when we write GAzar? Gyazar sounds pretty Turkish to me.

My parents say a bastardised version of the word 'gazar' too... they pronounce it "djazar" .

I was thinking we can have a barsga EA language thread similar to the WA language thread.

I know there aren't too many barsga-hyes here, but I hope someone can help... *looks at Lucin*

When we speak at least, we say 'elnim' like "if I was". Is that a word? Ելնի՞մ or should it be լինեմ or ըլլամ?

I'm sure I'll have more questions as I try to (re)learn how to write in Armenian and I will post them in this thread as they come up, but while I'm at it, I'll throw in "herr" (in place of ինչու) too. Does anyone know where it came from?

i know turkish persian and armenian casue im half iranian
turkish is just other form of persian which have some words from armenian too like jan and month names and etc...
they steal land language and many other things

I was searching for an "Eastern Armenian language thread" and found this one that's been inactive for some time. I found a cool resource for reading texts in English with an Armenian translation, designed for Armenian speakers from Armenia (I know, it's not quite Barsga, and they use the "և" inside of words). I am currently looking for a grammar book on English, written in Armenian for my uncle's mother, who is a barsgahye, if anyone knows of any good editions that I can order online, please let me know.
