I don’t think it would make a difference even if Armenia was not landlocked, blockaded with no natural resources. The mentality needs to change.....situations are dynamic and its much different than say 10 years ago, Armenia cannot effort to stagnate.

I am surprised that Armenian's influence in Russian political system hasn't been improved yet.

Mukuch has no clue what he is talking about, he is the one stating the turks will not attack Armenia and have somehow moved on with their plans. This is wishful thinking. A large chunk of the turkish elite are still fond of pan-turanism. Also, since turkey wants to be an energy hub, how nice it would be for them and their western partners if Armenia were to disappear, then pipelines could be layed directly from baku to turkey without having to go thru Iran or georgia.

We are in no position to be independent from the meddling of great powers, such as Russia. However, we should make every effort to encourage the Russian elites view that a strong Armenia is vital to their efforts to control the Caucasus, both northern and southern. This is the point Tigranakert was making in his earlier posts, about the Armenian diaspora in Russia and the large role which they can play in Armeno-Russo ties.

I would not be against the ARF having power in Armenia, I think their Armenian members realize the realites of the region much better than members from the Diaspora with little or no connection to the Homeland. I do like the RPAs foreign policy, and while I think they can try to engage with more nations, especially in Latin America, they have done well in balancing the West, Iran, and Russia.

You have no clue what turkey is, you have no clue what russia is and you have no clue what is RPAs foraign policy ( if such thing exist) and please do not talk abour ARF....

I do, this is why it is important to know the enemy and not go with feelings. Even enemies establish diplomatic relations.
Armenians must be by now aware of the Turkish cunningness. Like Mukuch said a "Turk" will remain a "Turk", which should be crystal clear to all of us.

Armenia can maintain good relations with Russia while increasing its own political footprint in Caucasus and beyond, slowly at first. Armenia’s sovereignty must also be secured and no country regardless of relations must be allowed to control that to any degree. This is very important.
Russian foreign policies cannot always be the same as Armenia’s foreign policies in the region. To be clear, this also applies to Europe and the West not just Russia. No country is allowed. Armenia is no Georgia or Azerbaijan and Armenia won’t backstab its allies.

I like what President Sarkisian has done so far in certain foreign policies and I don’t think anyone will argue, including opposition parties, against Russian/Armenian military cooperation and acknowledgment of close relations but what would be so bad in giving a chance to ARF party a term in office and just see what they will do for 4 years or whatever.

As hard as it may be we cannot allow the past dictate our actions today, whaat happened has happened....lessons must be learned and tactics changed.

Do you see how much of what I outlined about a turkish attack is based on Russia being aligned with Armenia and having strong foothold in the Caucasus?

The turks are good strategists, they are making the best of the current world situation and trying new avenues of foreign policy. Neo-ottomanism is not solely based on hard power, but soft power, they have been making investments and culutral exchanges with the stan countries, and Balkan nations for some time. They have also fostered better relations with the Arab world, specifically Syria, and they are attempting to keep things cordial with Moscow and Tehran. However, turkey and Iran, as well as turkey and Russia, have been, are, and will remain geopolitical rivals.

The closed border enjoys large support among turks, over 60% do not want open borders with Armenia, and their kemalist party is against it as well. Closed borders are an act of war, simple as that.
