Realistically Turkey isn't going to give any land back but I'm sure when Turkey recognises the Genocide the Armenian leaders can request for land negotiations. Turkey wont just give large portions of land to Armenia or will they give Armenia a border with access to the sea.

I say we ask just ask for mount Ararat and Ani back or the whole province of Kars back and thats it in terms of territory. We should ask for free access to the ports of Trabzon and Ordu on the black sea and Iskenderun and Mersin on the mediterranean sea so Armenia can make use of the sea for transporting goods without paying port taxes. Turkey should give the right to return for the Armenians who want to reclaim and live in their relatives properties and ensure that the Armenians are safe from any attacks by Turks and Kurds. And to make sure Turkey preserves and restores all remaining Armenian monuments.

Its easy to say Turkey should give us back all the lands but who here is willing to swap life the Boston, Los Angeles, Moscow and Paris for Kars, Van, Erzurum and Sivas? You are ignoring many important facts like these area are hardly developed, the road access is poor, there are hardly any jobs, the weather isn't terrible during the winter months. The Kurds are there and if they are settled elsewhere it would have to be forceful because they are not willing to move this alone will amount to ethnic cleansing of all the Kurds which cant be a consequence for settling a Genocide which involved the ethnic cleansing of all the Armenians.

Sion you start out your post with "realistically" but the moment you say "when Turkey recognizes the Genocide..." and when go ahead to say that you will "ask for Ararat and Kars only" you become anything but realistic. It will take many many generations of Turkish people to come to the right mind frame for them to accept the genocide. And even this can happen only with purposeful education of the masses of 80 million people over many decades. Even if the Turkish government accepted the genocide now, the fact that the Turkish people do not belive in it due to their ignorance or other reasons would lead to a quick overthrow of the government by the Turkish army or by the people themselves. No government will commit political suicide and the Turkish army which still seems to be hardstrong Kemalist will stick to its territorial integrity policy at least for the next century or so. Any talk of land claims can only strengthen Turkeys political stance internationally and can only domestically justify any nationalistic moves within Turkey with regards to the Genocide (like conference raiding).

hitite: You have very good points about the reality of land claims, but this is all a hypothetical situation. If we assume that Armenians have acquired their historical land, what would we do with it? How would we develop, populate, and defend it?

Armenoid, the last user who went around insulting others by calling people Turks got banned. Consider cutting down on the insults and ASK YOURSELF THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:

                  1. How would Armenia defend its historical lands if it suddenly acquired them?
                  2. How would Armenia deal with the Turks and Kurds already settled on that land?
                  3. How would Armenia convince other Armenians to move there?
                  4. How would Armenia develop so much land when its already so pressed for resources?
