Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

    • Heh.

turkishforces, I'm afraid your examples are fraught with error.

USA killed 2 million Vietnamese and even used chimical weapons on them and paid nothing.
The United States cannot pay reparations to the Vietnamese because they all fell to the Communist regime, which was an enemy to the United States and would refuse to accept any reparations because they would claim that it would be used for "imperialist" purposes. Today, the United States looks upon its invasion of Vietnam with shame, but there is no one to pay reparations to.

USA killed 200.000 japonese by nuclear weapon and paid nothing.
The United States was in a state of war with Japan. Therefore, there can be no need for reparations to pay because the USA and Japan were locked in a formal war, and Japan was the loser. According to the treaty after World War II, the Japanese agreed to having a minimal army and they accepted American supervision over the reconstruction of Japan. So we don't need to pay reparations to Japan because we've already discussed the matters in a treaty and fulfilled the clauses. However, the Japanese Americans that were put in Internment camps ARE BEING GIVEN reparations for mistreatment.
USA killed millions of native americans and took their country and paid nothing.
The United States is aware of its mistreatment of Native Americans, but today most Native Americans have assimilated into the American lifestyle. Those left have been given their reservations to live on. Those that have Native American backgrounds are elligble for special scholarships or aid when pursuing education. You are, however, correct that the actions taken against the Native Americans were near genocidal.

Spain killed 20.000.000 native american in 1600s, took their country and paid nothing.
Two things. First of all, Spain doesn't own any land in America anymore, so be sure to check a history book dated after 1600. Second, the Aztecs, Mayans, Olmecs, and Incas have all dissappeared. Even if Spain (or Mexico?) did want to pay reparations there would be no one to pay them to because they have all been eliminated. However, most of the Mexican population which is already Mestizo, which means they have Native American ancestory. It would be sadly ironic for a government to pay its own citizens for a crime thier ancestors committed, don't you think?

Spain killed thousands of muslim in Spain and paid nothing.
Are you asking about reparations to the inquisition? Who is responsible for the inquisition? Was it the Catholic church, or Spain, or some crazed ministers? Who would you pay the reparations to? Every single muslim on Earth? The Catholic church has already apologized for the inquisition.

Germans killed 6.000.000 jewish and paid nothing.
Wrong! The Germans have acknowledged their history and to this day pay the Jews and other minorities reparations for past injustices. We want Turkey to do the same for Armenia.

USA took California, New Mexico, Arizone and Texas from Mexico and paid nothing.
Wrong! The United States did not invade Texas. American immigrants had settled in Texas over the years, and eventually they decided to rebel to form an independent Republic. Texas remained the Lone Star Republic for years before being annexed by the United States. As for the other states, again the United States declared war on those states. They didn't do any ethnic cleansing. The United States then bought whatever extra land they wanted from Mexico (see: Gadsden Purchase). Reparations aren't paid to losers of war.

Israel killed and still killing many arabs and took their country and paid nothing.
It may interest you to know that Israel is still in an informal state of war with the entire Islamic world. Also, for every Arab Israel has killed, an Israeli civilian has been killed by a suicide bomber. You're just presenting a ridiculous double standard. How do you pay reparations to someone when you are still busy fighting them?

      =====================

Whew! That's enough time wasted talking to a brick wall. I'd address your other points but I'm afraid I'm just wasting my breath here and I'm bound to offend someone else by accident. So just rest assured that the Republic of Turkey, since it constantly fuels denialism, has good cause to offer reparations to elligble Armenian families.

I think your reality and my reality are completely different. Let’s say even if no one paid or got punished for their crimes, does it mean they are innocent? Whatever you are talking about is not our problem; let everyone else solve their own problem. Our problem is Turkey, and that’s what we are trying to deal with.

            Got it Mr. Beynamaz?

                    • Freedom, that was a figure of speech. My point was that both Israel and Palestine are responsible for the deaths of innocent civilians, so the idea of reparations (proposed by turkishforces) is absolutely ridiculous. Then Krunchy asked me to clarify what I said, so I did. We could argue for days on this issue, but for the sake of staying on topic, let's not.

My point is that turkishforces is trying to justify Turkey's refusal to pay reparations by bringing up other non-applicable issues, and I'm trying to prove him wrong.
