When your out of options seek new friends. The day the English didn't release Australian soldiers to return home to protect there country and the US bombing away Japanese submarines from Sydney Harbor in WW2 , was the day the US became a more important ally then the English. History should give us insight. Russia is tryingbti keep both sides happy but to say the least , we are not happy. So China it is.Originally posted by Haykakan View PostI think we should use China as leverage to Russian weapon deliveries. I bet we could get a similar loan for weapons from the Chinese and this will not only give us an option but will get Russia jumping on them deliveries. I think China is looking for a antiturk ally and it would be hard to find one better than us.

Come to think of it, the Russian base in Gyumri is keeping the filthy dictator to the West at bay. But the Russians want to keep the dictator to the East a loyal client. Damn!

China seems like a no brainer, but what's been holding it back? We aren't smarter than the MFA.
I'd go and sign up India, China and Iran as patron states. India because we both hate Pakistan. Iran because the Azeris are Israeli vassals and our intelligence on the frontline is valuable to them.
Russia doesn't want any of this which is why i suspect none of it is already happening. There was that article / rumor a few days ago that Russia blocks our purchase or non-Russian arms.

I don't believe Russia blocks our purchasese of non-Russian arms. It's exaggerated. But they gave us this loan without us asking for it and now they are playing "hard to get"

Let's not propagate unproven claims and rumors. Let's also not speak in absolute terms as if there is no clear and necessary benefit in working with Russia. But I do hate it when Armenians (more prevalent in the older generation) speak about Russians as brotherly this and brotherly that. That's all bull crap.Originally posted by bayhye View PostChina seems like a no brainer, but what's been holding it back? We aren't smarter than the MFA.

I also think we could get more out of Russia if Armenias current leadership wasn't so reliant on Russia's patronage to stay in power. If we had independent leaders who actually gave a xxxx about the country we could get more from Russia and work better with other allies like mentioned above.Last edited by HajiHabibli; 05-10-2016, 01:24 PM.

This is why we should have been busy building an arms industry instead of continuing the Soviet legacy of dependence on Moscow.Originally posted by armo12 View PostThis what i was fearing since day one.they postpone a 200 million deal for "objective reasons"?.i can't trust these russian dudes nowadays.i'm pretty sure that the same guy went to baku and told the reporters how russia is speeding up its arms supplies to azerbaijan and how they are not selling weapons to armenia due to political reasons...even if they are not selling them weapons now, they did back in 2011 and 2014(azeris signed a contract to get a further 12 tos-1A sunshine mlrs, thus expanding the fleet into 18) and that caused us enough damage

I could not agree with you more. An industry were we craft our own weapons .. Iran is a rich nation but had sanctions up the butt. Still made short , medium, long range missiles .On another note , I'm actually quite happy our boys train with NATO at times. At least we can address our own weaknesses .. If we can start cloning Grads then we can build a formidable arsenal and understand the engineering of these systems or whatever systems we want to build.Originally posted by HyeSocialist View PostThis is why we should have been busy building an arms industry instead of continuing the Soviet legacy of dependence on Moscow.
