No its saying that Kharabagh is now integral part of Armenia and will be protected by Russia.

No, lragir was casting it in an ominous light, forecasting a repeat of history where karabakh will once again go under Russian rule as a result of Armenia's decision to join the customs union. In reality, however, the treaty of gulistan was very welcoming news, as it freed the eastern part of Armenia (karabakh) from Persian yoke.

Lragir news agency has an anti-Russian agenda, and many of the points they try to make are so fueled by Anti-Russian sentiments that they lack basic logic.

With regards to choosing between Europe or the Customs Union, I think that it can be summed up by this basic question: What does Armenia have to offer Europe? Once you think about that question, I think it's quite logical for Armenia to choose Russia over Europe. Armenia offers Russia geostrategic, geopolitical significance, first and foremost. For that reason alone, it's the natural choice to pick Russia. You must be fooling yourselves if you believe that Europe is putting all its problems aside to worry about making Armenia more democratic and improving it's economy. Europe could care less. For Europe, Armenia is simply "in the way," it's a headache in it's access to Caspian oil and gas resources.

The current arrangement of being inside Russia's sphere is the only option and it is not necessarily a bad arrangement.

The blame for having limited options is not with Russia, Turkey, US, NATO, EU, Erdogan, Putin... it is with Armenians.

That’s like saying the blame for Belgium ( or Holland .....etc.) having limited options, as to which block to join, is with the Belgians.

It is a fact that for the last 200 years most Armenian leaders, churchmen and 'intellectuals' have made shish kebab-eating their priority,
not working on a collective vision, self sacrifice and struggle.

On a more serious note relying on churchmen or intellectuals for leadership is flawed.
Can you identify one successful political leader ( of any country) who portrayed himself as intellectual?
They may be smart and intelligent but they never project themselves as both intellectuals and politician/leaders.

Churchmen and intellectual's role is to rally the nation behind an ideology and “let it” to politicians to lead.

Of course the politicians should ultimately be answerable to the people.

the reason it is necessary to stress that the present problems are the result of past and present blunders is because Armenians like to spend nearly all their time (as we have seen in this thread) blaming outsiders

the mentality of the slave becomes evident when a nation is arguing as to which foreign country will protect its interests, which implies that such a nation has no faith in itself

are the French arguing as to which foreign country will defend French interests? are the Belgians?

Speaking of foolish comparisons, as opposed Armenia, France does not have neighbors that have as their state agenda the suffocation, the destruction of France, nor do the Belgians, for that matter. For example, the following are a few statements from Armenia's "neighborly" leader, Ilham Aliev:

Armenia as a country is of no value. It is actually a colony, an outpost run from abroad, a territory artificially created on ancient Azerbaijani lands,"

"Azerbaijan grows stronger and more powerful by the year, while Armenia weakens and declines every year ... We will continue our efforts to isolate Armenia."

You know what, while it is evident you are a self-hating individual with psychological issues, even if we accept your premise that Armenia's problems are indeed the result of the slave mentality of Armenians (which, by the way, is a racist remark, and in making such a point it become obvious that you are categorizing in a negative matter an entire nation of people--which makes you a bigot and automatically subject to not being taken seriously), but even if we accept that as the reason, you must be blind if you think that Armenia's geographic location, being tiny and in a landlocked state, and surrounded by hostile enemies, to be a matter of little or no significance on Armenia's current condition. In fact, not withstanding all that, Armenia has done REMARKABLY well. Not even the blockade has brought us down.

Armenia is not arguing which nation is going to defend it's interests. You must be fooling yourself. Every nation is guided by its own national interests. Even Russia, when necessary, makes decisions that conflict with Armenia's interests, in pursuit of it's own interests. ARMENIA'S PM TO BECOME A MEDIA MAGNATE?

According to Nyut.am sources, big sums have 'entered' Armenia from
West for financing a number of mass media. A number of newspapers and
news websites will receive big sums to propagate the EU's Association
Agreement. It is also planned to open a TV Channel.

Those who think that pro-EU figures have given up are wrong. In the
coming days the pro-Western figures will become quite active. The
sources say PM Tigran Sargsyan will coordinate these wide-scale
activities in the media field. Previously president's son-in-law was
doing it, while now this activity will be implemented by the PM.

On the other hand, the West seems to prepare a ground for the future
opposition figure and if Tigran Sargsyan resigns he will be the one.

Especially in case when the political elite of the USA, Armenia finds
that there is a vacuum in Armenia's opposition field and the PM may
become future leader without difficulties especially if he succeeds
to have his influence on the media field.

On the other hand, more probably the EU has not lost its hope to
attract Armenia.

In short, though not with his own means but soon Tigran Sargsyan may
become a media magnate.

Գուցե ասեն, որ հարցը տնտեսական էլ չէր, այլ բանը Արցախի հարցն էր, որտեղ Ռուսաստանը սպառնացել է բացահայտ պատերազմով եւ Հայաստանում իշխանափոխությամբ: Այն, որ Ռուսաստանն ունի այդ լծակները, չի կասկածում ոչ ոք:
Բրյուսելը պատրաստ է տնտեսական պաշտպանության, իսկ ռազմական անվտանգության հարցում Կովկասում չի մտնի Ռուսաստանի հետ հակադրության մեջ, հատկապես երբ կա Սիրիայի խնդիրը:
Այդ տեսանկյունից, ավելի լավ է տարածաշրջանում գերտերությունների ուժերի ներկայիս հարաբերակցությունը, քան դա ռիսկի ենթարկելը՝ երբ Ռուսաստանը կարող է կտրուկ ավելացնել իր ներկայությունն ու նաեւ դուրս գալ առավել հարմար դիրքերի՝ արցախյան գոտի եւ Իրանի սահման: Առավել եւս, որ այդ ամենի կապակցությամբ Հայաստանում եւ Արցախում Մոսկվան դիմադրության գրեթե չի էլ հանդիպի, քանի որ հասարակական-քաղաքական խմբավորումների գերակշիռ մեծամասնությունը՝ մի քանի բացառություններով, վաղուց է իր ուղղակի կամ անուղղակի համաձայնությունը տվել Ռուսաստանի այդ հավակնություններին:

No? I don't exactly see thousands of Armenian men from abroad and their party leaders rushing to Armenia and Karabakh to defend these borders!

The easy option obviously is to get another country to do the job, while they get on with better things..

not long ago on Armenian TV it was estimated the total number of active fighters in the Karabakh war was less than 30,000, mainly from Karabakh itself

That is, out of a world-wide Armenian population of 5-6 million!

yes every nation has its own interests but they don't spend a vast amount of time debating who will be defending them!
