Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

  • Re: Presidential elections 2008 in Armenia

Hetq and ArmeniaNow have been at it again.

    Hetq: http://www.hetq.am/eng/politics/

    ArmeniaNow: http://www.armenianow.com/

Just read some of their comments, its enough to make your blood boil. I'm amazed at how many absolute asswipes we have amongst us. Don't allow their voices to be the only ones heard. Get involved.

    Some of my posted comments:

As a true military officer with good "nationalist" intentions Jirayr Sefilian should have kept himself within the clearly defined structures of the Armenian armed forces and work on its battle efficiency and preparedness.

Military men belong in the military not in politics. Bravery on the battlefield can not be an excuse to carryout highly irresponsible acts that threaten the wellbeing of the state in peace time. As such, Sefilian was a brave war hero, however, he ruined his credentials simply by siding with the treasonous criminals of the Levon Petrosian camp.

Forget the evidence (although its there), just pay attention to the violent rhetoric used by Sefilian. Such rhetoric won't be allowed by any government on earth. See what would happen to a US servicemen/citizen if they dared to even mildly threaten the US president over any matter, let alone serious geopolitical issues.
The real issue here is not sociopolitical concerns, they are geopolitical. Yes, there are many sociopolitical matters that need to be addressed in Armenia but this can only happen in time, gradually and it will require peace and stability in the Caucasus.

A fledgling nation, tiny, landlocked, without natural wealth, surrounded by enemies, will take a very long time before it can securely stand on its feet. As a matter of fact, it will most probably require Armenia several generations, and an inherently peaceful neighborhood, before it can stabilize and begin to prosper.

Does this mean however that in the meantime every asshole on the street in Armenia with an empty pocket should be allowed by the authorities to attempt a bloody coup d'etat every few years? Does this means that every idiot in the diaspora that wants Armenians to "live like westerners" be allowed to support an uprising in Armenia every few years?

Armenia needs political evolution not western inspired revolution. Our collective ignorance and irrationality may just end up destroying our republic.

By not supporting the Republican party in Armenia today we are in essence supporting the treasonous HHSh party. If the Republican party gets overthrown, it is the Levonakans that will replace them - no one else. It's that simple.

And in such a scenario, I rather give the house keys to Moscow...
It's absolute lunacy to compare the living standards of the West to that of a tiny, landlocked, poor nation surrounded by enemies in the Caucasus.

The reason why you in the West enjoy a high standard of living is because for centuries the modus operandi of the West has been severe corruption, genocide, slavery and wars of conquest. The aforementioned has essentially made the West immensely wealthy. And for the past several decades this immense wealth has been trickling down to the average westerner. How dare you attempt to teach the rest of the world now what democracy and freedom are? Do you people even understand the world you live in?

If all you well intentioned assholes keep this up you are surly going to destroy Armenia with your ignorance and irrationality. I can only hope that the next time the likes of you try to cause instability in Armenia the authorities will have the courage to crush down harder.

Nonetheless, there is more freedom in Armenia than there is in a place like North America. Only in Armenia can tens of thousands of low-intellect rioters and their treasonous organizers take to the street and attempt a bloody coup d'etat. You try doing that in the US and see what will happen. As a matter of fact, you try threatening the US president and see what will happen.

ARMENIA NEEDS SOCIOPOLITICAL EVOLUTION NOT WESTERN INSPIRED REVOLUTION!!!

    • Re: Presidential elections 2008 in Armenia

There is an organized effort today to undermine and to isolate the Armenian Republic. This concerted effort is being organized by Washington DC. Their tools are the Levon Petrosian camp, entities such as ArmeniaNow, Radio Liberty, A1 Plus, Hetq, various internet blogs, various NGOs based in Yerevan and individuals involved within the Armenian Assembly. The aforementioned have become magnets for delusional asswipes in our society as of late. To counter their efforts, please post remarks/comments in appropriate sites in support of the ruling administration in Yerevan. Be aware that comments that are anti-Levon Petrosian or pro-Serge Sargsyan are being periodically deleted by site administrators. I believe they are doing this to artificially create the impression that a majority of the Armenian public is against the authorities in Yerevan. Therefore, be ready to repost your comments if need be.

Note that Armenianow has implemented delayed posting lately. They moderate what is being posted before it appears on the board. Nonetheless, we need to get involved, we need to contact our embassies, we need to contact Armenia's presidential office and various national organizations and express our opposition to the Levon camp and their western backers.

At the very least, I ask all patriotic and concerned Armenians to post comments within the following two websites:

      Hetq: http://www.hetq.am/eng/

      ArmeniaNow: http://www.armenianow.com/

Examples of comments you can modify and post:

Anyone engaged in any kind of an attempt that can destabilize the Armenian state shall be dealt with harshly. Levon and his treasonous team deserve to hang.

Despite the best efforts of CIA front offices like Armenianow and Radio Liberty, there will be no divisions between Armenia and Nagorno Karabagh. You agent provocateurs, along with your petty street whore called Levon, have been defeated in the Caucasus. I suggest you abandon your agendas in Armenia and concern yourselves with saving your pathetic asses in the Persian Gulf.

Long live Russo-Armenian alliance, the last front against pan-Turkism, Western imperialism and Sunni fundamentalism.

After observing Levon during the 90s all I can say is thank God for Kocharyan and Sargsyan.

Websites such as ArmeniaNow and Hetq are tools Washington DC uses to meddle in the internal affairs of Armenia with the hopes of driving a wedge between Yerevan and Moscow, and turn the masses against the struggle for Nagorno Karabagh.

Accepting financial aid from the West, specifically from Washington DC, is like taking money from the mafia, once you do they own you. Armenia needs to learn to do without western handouts.

Officials in Washington DC should concern themselves with keeping 'their' house in order. The nation with the most blood on its hands today is the USA. The nation with the most corrupt public officials today is the USA. The nation that is most hated and feared today is the USA. So, who gave these professional criminals the right to judge any nation? Why have these petty demons to oversee anything? Let them keep their "financial aid" (legal forms of bribes) to themselves. And let them take their deceiving and destructive concepts of "freedom and democracy" and shove it up their filthy asses.

The fledgling Armenian Republic needs political evolution - not revolution. Armenia's future lies with Russia. Levon and his treasonous team of usurpers need to be hanged for their crimes against the Armenian nation. Levon supporters, be it individuals or organizations, need to be persecuted out of existence.

It is quite obvious that one of the aspects of Armenian foreign policy that is being attacked by the West and Levon supporters is Armenia's strategic alliance with Russia. When you come across rhetoric that is hostile to Russian-Armenian relations in websites or blogs, you can post variations of the following commentaries as replies:

Armenianow has an article that pertains this topic: http://www.armenianow.com/?action=vi...D=1179&lng=eng

Although there are a few wrinkles that need to be ironed out, for better or for worst, Armenia's future lies with the Russian Federation.

Why Russia? Besides the centuries long history between Armenians and Russians, besides the fact that due to a Russian presence in the region there is an Armenia in the Caucasus today, besides the fact that Russia is amongst the most culturally advanced nations on earth - Armenians need to understand that the twenty-first century potentially belongs to Russia and that is, in essence, why we are currently seeing a frenzy of activity in the West to contain and undermine the Russian Federation throughout Eurasia.

Armenians need to understand that Russia is a natural bulwork against pan-Turkism, western imperialism and Sunni fundamentalism.

I am very glad that the "Hanrapetakan" party in Armenia, represented today by president elect Serzh Sargsyan, has had the strategic foresight to make sure that Armenia remains firmly within Moscow's sphere of influence. Concurrently, I am grateful that Moscow continues to realize the vital strategic importance of the Armenian Republic within the Caucasus.

Why is Armenia important for Russia? For geostrategic reasons, namely to keep NATO and Turks out of the Caucasus and to secure its oil/gas distribution networks, Moscow needs Armenia as a powerful state in the region. And as noted above, for geostrategic, economic and survival reasons - Armenia needs Russia.

The fact of the matter is, the West has no real interests within the tiny landlocked resource-less Armenian Republic other than to make sure official Yerevan does not interfere with their regional projects. The West's interest in the region is primarily the exploitation of Caspian Sea basin oil and gas, keeping the large powerful nation of Turkey within its sphere of influence and keeping Russia at bay, out of the Caucasus.

Needless to say, without the Russian factor at play in the Caucasus, the every existence of the Armenian nation can be at risk. For the West, Armenia is simply a geopolitical obstacle, a nuisance. Thus, the formula that promotes Russo-Armenian relations today is relatively a simple one: For Russia, Armenia is a strategic gate, a foothold in the Caucasus, that it has to protect for its national interests. For Armenia, Russia is a sustainer that it needs to stay alive in a very volatile and complicated geopolitical environment.

For a small, landlocked and resources-less nation surrounded by historic enemies in an increasingly complicated world, Armenia has no other option but to place its longterm and short term hopes on Mother Russia. May God bless the Russo-Armenian alliance.

With historic land disputes with its Turkic neighbors, with good relations with Iran and with a deep rooted strategic alliance with the Russian Federation - Armenia today is a political obstacle in the Caucasus region, as far as the West is concerned.

Nevertheless, the West can not risk having more inter-ethnic wars in the region either because such wars can potentially have a destabilizing effect upon the pro-West capitols of Tbilisi and Baku, such wars can disrupt oil/gas flow to the West from the Caspian Sea region and may also serve to draw Russia back into the South Caucasus.

Thus, due to these geopolitical/economic factors, the West will not forcefully engage in efforts to undermine the Armenian state. It is important to note, however, that the West will not risk attempting a forceful regime change in Yerevan only as long as it believes that the Armenian state is militarily and politically powerful and has Russian support. Thus, it's conditional.

Nevertheless, the West will instead resort to blackmail, bribes and the promotion of internal strife within the Armenian Republic in an attempt to pry Yerevan away from Moscow and make it conform to its regional agenda.

The tools that will be used for such an attempt will undoubtedly be pro-West and Turk-tolerant politicians such as Levon Ter-Petrosian, the exploitation of internal sociological strife (Artsakhtsi versus Hayastantsi sentiments) and the deceptive/manipulative utilization of concepts such as liberty, justice and the American way...

As we have seen, the West is equipped with a vast array of weapons. If nations won't conform, they bomb them (Serbia and Iraq). Where bombs would not work, they use money/bribes (Central Asian republics and Arab nations in the Persian Gulf region). Where bombs and/or money do not work, they use the notion of democracy, human rights as well as western pop culture to soften the masses (Armenia). This, in essence, is western style Realpolitik.

After seeing the nature of Western politics, do we still have masses of idiots believing in the deceptive and destructive concepts of democracy, freedom, human rights, fair elections, etc, as preached by the West? I'm afraid recent developments have revealed that we do.

      **************************

For the foreseeable future, Armenia's existence as a viable nation in the Caucasus serves 'only' Russian interests (and to a lesser degree, Iranian), not western interests. Because of Armenia's national interests Armenia is seen as a geopolitical obstacle getting in the way of the West's economic/political dealings with regional Turks and Azeris.

What does anyone here think a tiny, impoverished, landlocked and resource-less nation like Armenia has to offer the West? The answer is: absolutely nothing. If the West is not able to break Armenia away from Russia (and Iran) with the hopes of realizing its economic and geostrateigc formulations against Russia and Iran, the West would then simply like Armenia to get out of it's way. Thus, as a result of Armenia's historic claims on Artsakh and the pursuit of genocide recognition worldwide, Armenia is has become an obstacle for the West, especially Washington DC.

No matter how one looks at it, our relations with Moscow got us more than a billion dollars worth of Russian arms in the mid-90s to defend Armenia and Artsakh with. Our relations with Moscow has allowed Armenia to have political weight on the international stage; has provided us with cheep gas; has provided Armenia with cheep nuclear fuel; has provided Armenia with cheep armaments; has provided Armenia with a approximately billion dollar in trade and hundreds of millions of dollars in economic investments. Let's also take inot concideration that unlike the US, official Russia also recognizes the Armenian Genocide and if quite favorable towards the existence of Artsakh.

Although Armenian Americans are proud of America's relationship with Armenia what may I ask has this relationship gotten Armenia? The infamous TARC? The Paul Goble plan? Conditional funds thrown at Armenia for the purpose of setting up troublesome NGOs and US state department controlled websites? What has our relationship with the US gotten us other than spreading anti-Russian, anti-Iranian, anti-state authority propaganda within Armenia?

I suggest we look at our relationship with the US and the Russian Federation through a clear and objective geopolitical perspective. And I suggest we get over our Bolshevik derived paranoia and bias against Moscow and try to exercise some rational in our political assessments.

Realize that many have that opinion about you, anyway. Also realize that your manipulative crap won't work with Armenians. You are not dealing with some sub-Saharan African tribe nor are you dealing with ragheads. Disregarding the self-hating vermin and young ignorant ones in our society, Armenians in general realize that entities such as ArmeniaNow and Radio Liberty are political/propaganda tools Washington DC uses to meddle into the internal affairs of vulnerable nations such as Armenia. Washington DC hopes to drive a wedge between Yerevan and Moscow and it hopes to turn the masses against the struggle for Nagorno Karabagh. So, take your US State Department agenda and get your ass back to Hicks-ville Alabama. You have overstayed your visit in Armenia.

You will never succeed in breaking Armenia away from Artsakh. You will never succeed in breaking Armenia away from Russia. Your street petty xxxxxs in the Levon camp were soundly defeated. Face it, you lost. Now get your ugly ass out of our country.

The fledgling Armenian Republic needs political evolution - not an artificial revolution. Levon and his treasonous team of usurpers need to be hanged for their crimes against the Armenian nation. Levon supporters, be it individuals or organizations, need to be persecuted out of existence.

Sometimes accurate articles appear in ArmeniaNow because you want to be seen as a non-partisan news outlet. However, ArmeniaNow's agenda, as well as that of Radio Liberty's, is quite obvious - you strictly follow the dictates of the US State Department. The likes of you are sent to vulnerable nations to manipulate the disgruntled public's sentiments. In the Armenian case, it's no secret that you want Yerevan to breakaway from Russia and Iran and you want Armenia to bend over for Turks and Azeris. Your agenda is primarily to exploit central Asian oil/gas and undermining the Russian Federation and Iran in the region.

Sadly, due to Armenia's domestic problems, you have found willing partners in the treasonous Levon camp and that is why you are blowing Levon's trumpet today. And that is why the Armenian authorities today are left with no choice but to crackdown hard on Levon supporters and their western backers.

Moreover, we do realize that you are not alone, John. You have a lot of help - Richard Giragosian, Onnik Krikorian, Van Krikorian come to mind, to name a few of the obvious ones. We also realize that you operate in a vast, well organized and well funded network under the guise of promoting human rights and democracy in nations where the West has financial and/or geopolitical interests. In the 60s and 70s CIA agents posed as Peace Corp volunteers and backpackers/travelers. Today they are internet bloggers and champions of "freedom and democracy".

One would think as "freedom loving" westerners the first place you should be promoting your noble agendas are within nations that are your closest allies, who also happen to be the worst offenders in the practice of human rights and democracy - namely, Turkey, Israel, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Egypt, Albania, etc.

In final analysis, however, the fault lies with us Armenians. The likes of you have an agenda to perform, it's natural for it's your job. The problem is that ignorant ones in our society enable you to carryout your agenda. Thus, I can't blame you, John, for doing what you are told to do. However, I CAN blame our people for being sheeple.

Incidentally, John, since you have been very concerned and involved in Armenian society and politics, would you be willing to release your personal tax returns in the United States for the past several years for public viewing? Would you also be willing to subject yourself to an in-depth background investigation? I'm really curious. Are you truly this concerned about Armenia or are you simply doing your job? By that I mean; leaving sunny California and hicks-ville Alabama for a foul dictatorship in Caucasus like Armenia?! Heck, you must be either a saint or a demon. Anyway John, I know the answers to these questions, I just want to hear them from you...

Nothing will bring down prices today except a tipping point in perception. Getting off and doing something to increase out petroleum supplies would be an improvement. Letting Cuba drill the Gulf is about par for the course. Any speculation in petroleum markets is justified by our record of ignorance in defining a cogent energy policy. And now our U.S presidential candidates Obama and McCain are talking about it, the issues surrounding recent discussions on US offshore drilling for oil has significant impact for all Americans. I am truly disgusted at our "president" Serje Sarkisyan. As if it isn't bad enough he wants to invite his good friend (turkish president) to Armenia to watch a soccer match together, but Agreeing to a commission to determine whether the Armenian killings constituted genocide? WOW! And where are all those good "nationalist" boys, including those in this forum, to condemn such insulting acts undertaken by the illegitimate president who attempts to legitimize himself, even if it means crawling up Turkey's buttt. And who cut the tongue of the Dashnak party beaura? why aren't they speaking up?

Just imagine what would have happened if it were Levon der Pedrosyan. I can assure you this thread wouldn't be so quiet.

These recent events are proof that LTP is a competent statesman, a capable political leader, while Serje is a thug who will stop at nothing to keep his hold on power, no matter what the cost.

                --------------------------------
Sarkisian Signals Support For Turkish Genocide Proposal

                By Emil Danielyan

Signaling a policy shift, President Serzh Sarkisian confirmed Thursday that he is ready to accept, in principle, Turkey’s proposal to form a commission of Armenian and Turkish historians that would examine the 1915 mass killings of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire.

But he made clear through a spokesman that such a commission should be created only after Turkey agrees to unconditionally establish diplomatic relations and open its border with Armenia.

The proposal was formally made by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a 2005 letter to then Armenian President Robert Kocharian. Erdogan suggested that the would-be commission determine whether the Armenian massacres constituted genocide and said his government would accept any conclusion reached by it.

In a written reply, Kocharian effectively rejected the idea and came up with a counterproposal to set up a Turkish-Armenian intergovernmental commission that would deal with this and other issues of mutual concern. Other Armenian officials, backed by local and Diaspora scholars, dismissed Erdogan’s move as a Turkish ploy designed to scuttle international recognition of the Armenian genocide. They also said that by agreeing to the proposed study the Armenian side would question the very fact of the genocide.

“We are not against the creation of such a commission, but only if the border between our countries is opened,” Sarkisian declared during a visit to Moscow earlier this week.

Sarkisian’s press secretary, Samvel Farmanian, reaffirmed this in a statement issued on Thursday. “We are not against any study of even obvious facts and widely accepted realities,” he said. “Agreeing to a study does not mean casting doubt on the veracity of facts.

“However, the creation of such a commission would be logical only after the establishment of diplomatic relations and the opening of the border between our countries. Otherwise, it could become a tool for dragging out and exploiting the existing problems.”

Farmanian’s statement came amid an uproar from the country’s main opposition alliance led by former President Levon Ter-Petrosian. In a statement on Wednesday, Ter-Petrosian’s Popular Movement condemned Sarkisian’s “dangerous” remarks, saying that the new Armenian leader has agreed to a proposal “calling into question the fact of the Genocide.”

Farmanian rejected the opposition claims. “It is strange that the genocide issue is being exploited by individuals who had done everything in the past to condemn that tragic page of our history to oblivion,” he said in a jibe at Ter-Petrosian’s more conciliatory line on Turkey.

The paper reports that addressing members of the Armenian community in Moscow this week, Sarkisian said that he is “not against” the Turkish proposal to set up a commission of Turkish and Armenian historians that would look into the events of 1915-1918. He made clear, though, that such a commission should be formed only after the opening of the Turkish-Armenian border. “In effect, he agreed with the Turkish view that it has yet to proven that a genocide of Armenians was perpetrated in the Ottoman Empire in 1915,” claims “Haykakan Zhamanak.”

Disregard the hetamnats geghtsi. What he is referring to is an 'interpretation' of a comment that Sargsyan's supposedly made recently in Moscow.

Apparently, Sargsyan stated he is not against Armenian and Turkish historians jointly looking into the Armenian Genocide...

So, Levonakans are saying that Sargsyan agrees with the Turkish notion that there was no Armenian Genocide... This is xxxxing silly.

What context was Sargsyan's comment said in or what political factors or nuances were at play when he said it no one knows. However, we know one thing very clearly: Levon Petrosian IS a pro-Turk politician and he has never hid that fact. And one of Levon's closest aids, the rat-faced Arzumanian, was one of the top members within the now infamous TARC committee.

Because these street xxxxxs in the Levon camp have nothing on Sargsyan, everything Sargsyan says and does is being put under a US State Department funded microscope.
