First of all, as long as both sides are consenting, can there be anything wrong in giving/sharing love and affection?

Second of all, not all older women involved with younger men are cougars as it is the case in "The Graduate" and "Teorema."
In an earlier post, I have referred to Fassbinder's "Fear Eats The Soul" where a younger man and older woman share love and affection.
Also, in "La peite Lili" - that I have mentioned earlier - the "older" woman who makes the above mentioned "unfair" comment about younger women, marries a young movie maker for his passion, intransigence and the sincerity of his beliefs; after, Lili, the younger woman leaves him for an older man.
In other words, an older woman can offer more than what a cougar is willing to offer to a younger man.
What do you mean by "hot?" Maybe I misunderstood you.

For the record, as I see it, the "eternal child" is neither hot nor cool; the "eternal child" is warm and warmth is what we feel around children

There's a thin line between being alive and being unstable and, often, that thin line is nothing but a perception. Adults may be (emotionally) unstable as well; for instance, in "Lolita," "Pretty Baby" and "Baby Doll" the relationship failed because of the emotional unstability and pathological insecurity of the older man.
Also, stability may come with a price tag; all depends on one's priorities and appreciation.

What if I find someone else when looking for you? My soul shivers as the idea invades my mind.

      [QUOTE=Siamanto;177266]Anoush,
Many Thanks! Maybe, I should read it myself, from time to time.
Reading your posts, I'm really pleased to see an Armenian woman daring to express her dissonance - yet sounds harmonious; instead of, such as many, hiding behind a wall of silence until the child inside dies or falls into oblivion.[QUOTE]

Oh Siamanto, beleive me I had my share of experiences with people and I had some discords too; but in reality I am a forgiving person and I simply like to talk and interact with people. Now on the net it's a bit difficult as we don't know how other people view you and your writings; but the good part is that you can ask around and find it out for yourself.

I know of someone who's a saint and yet she never spoke up to the people who were unjust and arrogant or mean to her; but later on in life she would open up to the people around her as all that abuse in her earlier life left sort of a mark with her. It's sad, very sad for a sweet person like her to be taken advantage of; but unfortunately people normally tend to take advantage from the real sweet ones.

      You're welcome!
Why do you think children are so beautiful? Why do you think the child inside dies? I have my views on it, but are we digressing???
Don't worry about that. We can talk until wheeeenever!!!

P.S. LOL Does the "child" in Eternal Child means that age matters? Or does the "eternal" means that age does not matter?
Good question. I would think that "eternal" means that age doesn't matter and I think it is stressed more positively.

However, the "child" in Eternal Child, it is stressed negatively, meaning simply that "you're acting like a child or childish". And I think age matters as far as one partner is saying to the other that you should grow up and stop acting childishly. Therefore they would ask us to grow up and start acting our age. Who cares. Personally, I am an older member of this Forum I'm sure; but I don't think I'll ever grow up to really be or feel old. I am a young hearted person and I will remain this way for the duration of my lifespan.

Sometimes when I am around people I don't mind at all expressing myself or speaking my mind; but when it comes to politics I am strong and obstinate with my views. However, other than politics or religion I ease up and I try to listen other people's views.

          1. You say "Yes" loud and clear in the remainder of your reply! heh heh

          2. I was just using the term Cougar as a general term so that we could all get on the same page as quickly as possible. Any older women who would date a younger man is comically a cougar in my mind.

Anyway I should be getting praise not chastised ... one of my ex girlfriends told me a scary statistic (I know I know all statistics can be altered blah blah blah ) that the percentage of divorced women that remarry after a certain age is like crazy low ... since I can't remember exactly I'm not just gonna make up crap.

So all I'm saying is that there are probably a bunch of lonely older women who would just like some company. Anyway I'd be happy with a non-cougaresque older woman, but where do you find women who aren't looking? haha Don't say online lmao or in a bar wa waaaaa hee hee

Single women are always looking ... those with boyfriends are often looking to improve their current catch (not always). Married ones rarely look unless they are with a total loser.

The older women you should watch out for are those with kids ... their kids will always come first.

                Re: does age matter?

I went out with an older woman who had a kid a few years ago ... we went out maybe like 3 times in the span of a week. After I realized she was a complete psycho, I called it quits. She had apparently been completely in love with me even before we met and had already planned in rediculous amounts of detail how were were going to live the rest of our lives together ... Even to this day I get messages from her on how she is totally in love with me and wants to have my kids etc...

Unfortunately, isn't it easier - and more likely - to take advantage of a sweet person? Most of the time, jerks will not dare abusing someone they do not perceive as fragile, defenseless or weak and that should give you an idea of their sense of fair play.
Confronting those abusive jerks seems necessary - despite the unpleasant tensions that may result - in order to be heard and put them in place; and, no, jerks don't like to be confronted and will do their best to silence you and will have no scruples when being dishonest or immoral.

I will not go into details because it's a complex, intricate and controversial subject.
Briefly said, I think that children have no "spirit" and their "soul" animates their playful being; however, as they grow, adapt to the constraints of the society and learn "formal techniques" to deal with their emotions, perceptions, feelings etc. - in other words, as they acquire a "spirit" - their "soul" is increasingly constrained by their spirit that gradually control their acts, eventually suffocating the soul. Our lives "evolve" from animated games to controlled acts!
Of course, a pleasant, charming and harmonious blend of the two - i.e. spirit and soul is possible - but is unusual.

Considering the person who used the expression, the context where it was used, the person it described - i.e. Brigitte Bardot - and, finally, a cultural background indulgent of the playful, mischievous and - for lack of a better word - the "eccentric;" I'd say that the "child" in Eternal Child had rather positive connotations, similar to the ones that you have mentioned in previous posts.
As for "eternal," I view it as a "modulator" that simply accentuates the good - or bad - in "child."

Coming to the topic of the thread, it can be argued that the "child" in Eternal Child suggests that age matters because in many/most of us the child dies as we grow older. However, the "eternal" suggests that the child does not have to die - and does not always; therefore, age does not necessarily matter.
(Of course, the child can also die prematurely, that also means that age does not necessarily matter.)
