Between you and me, Mos, I don't really give a rat's ass what happens to Armenia. It is part of my heritage, but so much of it I could really do without. I am fully convinced that, given the opportunity, Armenians would happily inflict a genocide on others because they are so self centered and so entitled. See? Either way works for me. If Armenia is going to be some backwards patriarchal backwater, I want no part in it. And, I, personally, won't miss much.

I know what a traditional patriarchal household is. Women are mostly unhappy in such situations. And once they taste freedom, there's no turning back. In fact, it's the same for men who liberate themselves from such constrictions.

There are measures of people's content, no? Like happiness index or something. I'm sure I've seen some where Europeans were among the happiest.

And Mos, you mentioned how Turkey has a higher birthdate; isn't Turkey also more progressive?

Armenians have survived because they have been disjointed and disunited. When one population perished, another carried on. There has always been an outward-looking spirit among Armenians. Diasporas have existed from the very beginning, and most diasporan Armenians have been very comfortable in a number of different cultural setting. This idea of one nation and one set of cultural standards based upon one interpretation of history is like a black hole. Nothing ever comes out of it.

Siggy, Turkey is very diverse. It is very progressive and very traditional. Both have a place. And, the more backward looking elements in Turkey very closely resemble the very backward looking elements among Armenians.

Do you now how big of a problem selective abortion is in Armenia? Banning it is the right thing to do - it will help also with the struggling birth rate.

The only real impairment to population expansion is food security, housing etc. You should ban contraception let alone abortion. Since Armenian women who fail to fulfill their duty towards your nation, really aren't a lot of good to you and only a fool wastes his time and money on harlots.

Nation states don't make sense any more. Neither do religions. It won't be long before this planet is completely depleted and we will all have to find a way. We have to evolve away from nations and nationality and toward a meme of humanity and humanism.

I believe in no fairy dudes with long beards floating in the clouds deciding who' naughty or nice. I also think Jesus was a concoction of Paul of Tarsus who saw an excellent business opportunity. I'm not going to debate religion with you. That being said, you can't deny that the Armenian Church and Christian values is central to the Armenian identity, atheist or believer, an Armenian should respect the Church and its role in our history and how it has preserved our identity thoughout the times.

No, it's what your agenda tells you to do. "label all women in traditional,normal families as unhappy". "the only way for woman to be happy is to follow the feminist agenda, etc..."

In what way? Armenia has a higher Human Development Index than Turkey actually, and depends on where in Turkey (Kurdish regions versus Istanbul).

Yeah I tend to agree with that. We all have a duty towards stregthening our nation and making sure our nation continues and is passed down to our children. We didn't struggle for thousands of years to keep our identity and nation in-tact, to have it be run over by infesting liberal ideals and "enlightened" people who are deeply misguided....
