I dont really think it makes a diffrence if an Armenian boy/girl goes out with a Non armenian. Who said two Armenians that are togheter is always the right thing. In my past expierence i can tell you that its not always a good idea to date your same ethnicity. For example I was going out with a hayastanci girl & we broke up just because Im beirutSi... so now that Im getting married to an odar we truly love eachother & are happy togheter.

It does matter. Sadly many of the youth don't care anything beyond their prurient and hedonistic existence. They think and like to believe that nothing matters and we are all alike. Instead, peoples and cultures are like oil paint on a canvas. Do you know what happens to oil paint? Dzulvum eh. It means, it becomes diluted. Mixes on a grand scale spell the end of any nation and culture and to think otherwise is an obvious ignorance of history, biology and reality. Exceptions to the rule can exist and bask only in relation to the greater majority that still maintains itself. Once that line breaches, then you exceptions that like to bask in these things will be as good as lost. Sadly, this is the end result of the diaspora, the forsaken grounds.

If you had 2 girls liking you lets say an Armenian & a American & the armenian girl treated you like trash & the american one treated you with respect... who would you start a relationship with the armenian one just because she is armenian or with the american one thats gonna bring you happiness?

Ithink the above is a very bad comparison, no one is saying you or anyone has to be with an Armenian who is going to treat you like crap. Not every Armenian person is like your ex gf or the like. I used to say the same thing you are saying when I was dating my "otar" bf many years ago.

Personally I don't think I can find happiness with an otar. There will always be that part of me not belonging. But I guess it's up to the individual to see what fits best for their lifestyle. If someone can find happiness with an otar, I wish all the best to them.

That is not how life is. Life is always about choices. I can choose to reject both of them. I would rather not marry if my only option was to marry an odar and breed half breeds. People have always loved to make excuses for love and lust, but are quick to try and reject the concept of choice, of free will. There is always a choice.

Your example is not a real world example because it is devoid of choice. I hate hypotheticals like that that pit people in a corner because not only does it not reflect reality, but it is already conformed to a preconceived notion, i.e. the point you want to prove.

Like I said, I have the choice to accept neither.

YEAH. In any multiple choice (or essay from) exam (that is the real, not binary, world), T/F, Yes/NO will get you a failing grade.

Dating non-armenians

This issue was probably raised in every armenian family, and from what I see, almost all armenians against it. I'm dating a non-armenian girl with whom i'm in a serious relationship, and I've had quite hostile episodes with my parents regarding this. They are so paranoid, close-minded, and disrespectful. They treat me like i'm some kind of a lunatic for choosing to be with a non-armenian, and have no regards for my feelings. It's as if they love me only if i think and act the way they do (as their so-called "traditional" armenian), otherwise they have no respect for my own thoughts. I'm not doing something unreasonable by dating a non-armenian, I see nothing wrong in that. I feel as if i'm just somekind of a tool of theirs used for the breeding of more armenian children. What indignity...

I don't know how to deal with them anymore, it's been alittle better lately, but there is still the tension. Will they ever get over it and accept her? Or will they remain as stubborn as they were? I know I'm not going to yield to them because they are wrong, and I won't be living a life where I am constantly dictated by rules that state how to be a "proper armenian." I think i have priority over my own rights and individuality.

Thats a nice story, why don't you share it with a non-Armenian forum.

If you think you're parents are close minded for wanting to preserve our national and cultural hertiage I think you're the one with some problems.

You're feelings? what are you, a sissy girl? What gives you the right to call yourself Armenian? do you think having an armenian last name makes you armenian? do you think speaking armenian makes you armenian?

You're a lost soul, and I'd suggest you and your kind distance yourselves from the holy Armenian name as far as possible.

You can go marry a Turk for all I care, b/c as an Armenian you're useless and perhaps even harmful if we go another step.

Please don't associate yourself with "close-minded" Armenians, we can do without disgraceful "armenians" like yourself, that is if you're even Armenian at all.
