Erdogan presents copy of Russia-Turkey treaty to Russian President

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan presented Russian leader Dmitry Medvedev a copy of a treaty on friendship and fraternity between the two states and a stamp issued by Turkish authorities to mark 90 anniversary of the document.

He recalled that on March 16, 1921 Soviet Russia recognized the Republic of Turkey and gave security guarantees of the joint borders.

“The document is a turning point in our history. Our eastern borders were recognized under the Moscow agreement, “Erdogan told a press conference in Kremlin.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Moscow is timed to the 90th anniversary of the Treaty of Moscow. On March 16, 1921 the Treaty of Moscow was signed. Signing a treaty Turkey and Russia in fact divided the territory of the Republic of Armenia. Article III of the treaty instituted an autonomous Nakhchivan region under Azerbaijan’s protectorate. The Kars region (lost in 1877-78) went to Turkey, southern part of Batum region went to Turkey as well. The Treaty of Kars was signed on October 13, 1921 based on the Moscow agreement. Representatives of Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan confirmed provisions of the Moscow Treaty.

Today the youth wing of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun and other youth organizations held a protest action in front of the Russian Embassy in Yerevan protesting against Erdogan’s visit.

The meeting was arranged by Turkey intentionally to reinforce the USSR agreement by it’s successor Russia. Russia kneeled, in public, towards his historically known enemy and US ally; Turkey (knowing that it will hurt his ally-Armenia immensely, too) to get Russian investments approved by Erdogan. Are they willing to trade some honor for money?

They could do it silently, not to harm Russian's honor much, nevertheless it was stipulated by Turkey and Russians had no choice, but to ...

Is this typical superpower behavior?

Do you realize that Armenia is landlocked, 80% of its borders are blockaded, we have no resources at all and we have 2 neighbors 50X our strength who want to wipe us off the map? Theres only 1 other entity in the world with these problems: The Gaza Strip. Without Russia, Armenia would just be another Gaza Strip, assuming we don't immediately get wiped off the map. Its really that simple..

But despite this horrible situation, we have less poverty and more political freedoms than Georgia and Azerbaijan (who have none of our problems) and our situation is slowly improving year-by-year.

Both Georgia and Azerbajan have their own problems...
I wouldnt say that there is more political freedom in Armenia than in Georgia and levels of poverty is quite comparable in all region (Georgia Armenia Azerbajan). And I would add that in Georgia level of coruption is much lower than in Armenia, and they are in a war not with such country as Azerbajan but with mentioned by you "superpower" Russia.
I wonder how they survive?

In other hand azeries do not kiss russian ass and openly support the NATO ( turkey) and they get almost as much support from Russia as Armenia dose by kissing russian as 24/7.

Well Azeris have something called oil and gas. So don't be surprised if Russia or any country tries to give some support to Azerbaijan. However, they don't get weapons from Russia at such low prices or even no price at all, which we get them at. Plus we have Russian military base and are part of CSTO treaty.

So what should we do Eddo? Fend for ourselves? We need an alliance with a stronger power like Russia, and historically our strategic interests have aligned. Given our situation, we get a lot of benefits from the Russian alliance, and yes there are concessions we will have to make in getting these benefits. Again, if it wasn't for Russia, Turkey would have invaded Armenia during Karabakh War and finished off what they started in 1915. Like it or not, Russia has saved our a*s more than once, and we shouldn't forget that.

Right now they (Russia) has the chance to get control over the power plants being build in Turkey, on every aspect they will gain power over Turkey and start controlling a vital part of their energy sector. Can you tell me how did this hurt the Armenian-Russian relationship?

Georgia two years lost, for the next couple of decades maybe even longer parts of their territory. Their army got destroyed and it will take a long time to get them back to their former strength. You keep forgetting the little fact that they have sea access and non of their borders are closed. Any other country in Georgia's position would be much better of than they are now.

The world isn't right, the strong dictate the weak. The hard fact is we need Russia and their weapons (that we get for a much cheaper price or even for free). Armenia can handle Azerbaijan like we have done in the past. However Armenia today and for the next decade can not handle the sheer power of the Turkish army. That's the hard fact we are living in today. The wars started by America, Turkish invasions of Kurdish Iraq and the Russian invasion has shown us that the world doesn't give a damn about the weaker countries unless they have a strategic interest in those countries.

Ones again for people who understand slow: FORAIGHN POLICY MUST BE BALANSED AND FLEXIBLE !!!! Even kid knows that there are no allies forever in politics...

Again, if it wasn't for Russia, Turkey would have invaded Armenia during Karabakh War and finished off what they started in 1915. .

I am not sure about your statement... please bring some facts confirming it.
