Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

      Azeri on the regional ties...
Iran fears Azerbaijani-Turkish cooperation, expert says
      March 25, 2011 - 11:46 AMT 07:46 GMT
PanARMENIAN.Net - Iran fears the successful Azerbaijani-Turkish tandem, an Azeri expert said.

Commenting on the developing cooperation between Armenia and Iran, Fikret Sadykhov said Iran just wants to have a couple of neighbors to help it push forth common interests.”

“Armenia is the most favorable option for Iran over its ongoing conflict with Azerbaijan, whose succeeds arouses Tehran’s jealousy. That is why Iran believes strengthening of relations with Armenia to be the best way to hamper the expansion Azerbaijan’s influence throughout the region,” he said.

“Iran also fears the strengthening of domestic Azeri factor and the increasing role of Azeris in the country’s political life. Besides, Tehran is concerned over Azerbaijan’s cooperation with western countries. Nevertheless, I think the internal political factors can influence Iran’s foreign policy, including its relations with Armenia,” Sadykhov said, quoted by 1news.az.

Great pics! The importance of inviting the president of Armenia to an event such as Novruz speaks volumes about Iran's stance on Armenia. Why this is pretty epic for us in terms of symbolism is that we're a Christian nation that does not observe Novruz yet we were invited and not only that, but held separate talks with the President and soon with the Supreme Leader of Iran. It is even sweeter that Aliyev did not show up to the event and sent a lower level representative. I understand that the leader of Afghanistan, Iraq, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan are there too, SS should grab the opportunity and meet with these leaders too, at least briefly, just to strengthen bilateral relations or even just symbolism.

Aliyev didn't come when he found out Sargsyan was attending. That idiot just has no clue how to conduct foreign policy, he's going to ruin his country soon.

I can't say I'm to enthusiastic in developing relations with countries such as Tajikistan or Afghanistan. They seem a step back for us.

His strategy seems to be to try to deter Iran from developing relations with Armenia by making indirect criticisms or boycotting events like this. It's backfiring as it's not deterring Iran

For Tajikistan and Afghanistan, it is never bad to have relations with any country + we need to develop relations with as many Muslim states as possible, take advantage of the situation. We have troops in Afghanistan, it would be great for Serge to say hi to Karzai and mention how we're "helping Afghanistan" with our presence.

If Aliyev wants to deter Iran from developing relations with Armenia there's 2 things he can do. One, is more cooperation on energy projects regarding oil and gas, and second, is lowering ties with Israel. Of course he won't do this, and in return he will be surrounded by enemies, ready to divide is fake country up.

In my view, Aliyev cares more about his oil profits and keeping it flowing, than Karabakh, Iran, refugees, and so on. He builds fancy buildings here and there to show that Azerbaijan is "improving" but in reality it isn't.

Aliyev has already started purchasing millions in property in Dubai and elsewhere (likely to flee to).

                    2. Nowruz ("New Day") pre-dates the Abrahamic faiths - Historically, all people connected with the Persian Empire celebrated it, including Armenians. It's more of a secular holdiay today (except for Persian Zoroastrians) - it transcends people and faiths in the region. Nowruz is about 12 days of celebrations; it's a time to go to friends houses, eat sweets and food, listen to traditional music, dance, clean the house, dress nicely, buy flowers for the house, etc. Someone should update the Armenian Wiki (it will be important to the region later in terms of diplomacy, economics, and defense). Georgia has adopted Nowruz as an official holiday. Just so everyone knows, Christianity and Nowruz are perfectly compatible. Nowruz also works against Pan-Turanism (they hate it). I remember as a kid going to the houses of Armenian friends for Nowruz and listening to traditional Armenian music also. Nowrooz also reminds the Pan-Turkic element that when Armenia had its strongest historical ties (from its creation up to about 200 years ago) Armenian lands were 3x the size they are now - Also, if the Kurds annex a portion of Turkey, Nowrooz may help Armenia get a portion of Western Armenia back though simple diplomacy. Next year, Armenians should go to Nowruz parties, invite traditional Armenian musicians and dancers, and have a great time. Armenia's Nowruz diplomacy can stand to open up its economy to 300 million people (the number of people that celebrate it).

                    3. Iran will probably rebuild 60% of Afghanistan after the war - to try to bring it in line with modern societies. On Iran's border, it has already started doing this with some pretty positive results. An Afghanistan with a higher literacy rate, improved businesses, less-drug trade, and better infrastructure will benefit everyone in the region.
