Forum Rules (Everyone Must Read!!!)

1] What you CAN NOT post.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is:
- abusive
- vulgar
- hateful
- harassing
- personal attacks
- obscene

You also may not:
- post images that are too large (max is 500*500px)
- post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or cited properly.
- post in UPPER CASE, which is considered yelling
- post messages which insult the Armenians, Armenian culture, traditions, etc
- post racist or other intentionally insensitive material that insults or attacks another culture (including Turks)

The Ankap thread is excluded from the strict rules because that place is more relaxed and you can vent and engage in light insults and humor. Notice it's not a blank ticket, but just a place to vent. If you go into the Ankap thread, you enter at your own risk of being clowned on.
What you PROBABLY SHOULD NOT post...
Do not post information that you will regret putting out in public. This site comes up on Google, is cached, and all of that, so be aware of that as you post. Do not ask the staff to go through and delete things that you regret making available on the web for all to see because we will not do it. Think before you post!

2] Use descriptive subject lines & research your post. This means use the SEARCH.

This reduces the chances of double-posting and it also makes it easier for people to see what they do/don't want to read. Using the search function will identify existing threads on the topic so we do not have multiple threads on the same topic.

3] Keep the focus.

Each forum has a focus on a certain topic. Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved to the appropriate forum, closed, or simply be deleted. Please post your topic in the most appropriate forum. Users that keep doing this will be warned, then banned.

4] Behave as you would in a public location.

This forum is no different than a public place. Behave yourself and act like a decent human being (i.e. be respectful). If you're unable to do so, you're not welcome here and will be made to leave.

5] Respect the authority of moderators/admins.

Public discussions of moderator/admin actions are not allowed on the forum. It is also prohibited to protest moderator actions in titles, avatars, and signatures. If you don't like something that a moderator did, PM or email the moderator and try your best to resolve the problem or difference in private.

6] Promotion of sites or products is not permitted.

Advertisements are not allowed in this venue. No blatant advertising or solicitations of or for business is prohibited.
This includes, but not limited to, personal resumes and links to products or
services with which the poster is affiliated, whether or not a fee is charged
for the product or service. Spamming, in which a user posts the same message repeatedly, is also prohibited.

7] We retain the right to remove any posts and/or Members for any reason, without prior notice.

- PLEASE READ -

Members are welcome to read posts and though we encourage your active participation in the forum, it is not required. If you do participate by posting, however, we expect that on the whole you contribute something to the forum. This means that the bulk of your posts should not be in "fun" threads (e.g. Ankap, Keep & Kill, This or That, etc.). Further, while occasionally it is appropriate to simply voice your agreement or approval, not all of your posts should be of this variety: "LOL Member213!" "I agree."
If it is evident that a member is simply posting for the sake of posting, they will be removed.

8] These Rules & Guidelines may be amended at any time. (last update September 17, 2009)

If you believe an individual is repeatedly breaking the rules, please report to admin/moderator.

Yeah if they weren't smart they wouldn't be in power for such a long time and wouldn't be able to have kept the peace in the country for such a long time.

Armenia, for a country of it's size and situation is very strong and will get stronger, democracy is so overrated, especially the Armenian people should never be asked who will rule them because they will follow the one with the most promises. Independent, I would say Armenia is independent it proved in 2008, when it didn't join it's ally in the war but stayed neutral. Armenia's leaders today are smart enough to know how politics works and what is needed for the survival if the country. You can call them greedy, corrupt bastards but dumb xxxx no.

I understand your disappointment in political culture of Armenians... but I will remind you words of Churchill: the democracy is the worst political system but humanity hasn’t invented anything better yet... And don’t you think that being corrupt and greedy ruler in a country that dies in poverty means being dumb?

And finally: you cannot call a state independent if physical survival of it depends of other country… All military doctrine of Armenia is built on Russia… what if Russia decides to annex Armenia? What then

It's not only Armenia but the whole world where people like George Bush and Obama can become the most powerful man in the world, while there are so many better people able to lead the country but aren't able to because they aren't popular or don't suck up to the right people. Democracy has become rule of the mob, the one that can promise the most will get the throne, not the one that is the best for the job.

If Russia decides to annex Armenia then Iraq would have looked like child play. There are to many things stopping Russia from doing that, world opinion, the US will never accept something like that. They accept that the Caucasus is part of the influence sphere of Russia but they will never accept the annexing of Armenia, especially not after being pushed by our lobbies. In the US today there are huge anti-Russian forces trying to get more power. This will be a perfect excuse for them and Russia knows this and will play nicely.
South-Korea today also depends on the US or its survival, without US support their capital would be destroyed in two hours and after that their military because North-Korea has 50000 known artillery pieces aimed at their capital, so can you say that South-Korea isn't a independent nation?

Given our situation we have it pretty good. Few nations would have survived what we have survived through. Even if the relationship with Russia is "unequal" it is still absolutely necessary to keep this alliance given the geopolitics of the Caucasus.

This type of expression comes from despots who are not in touch with reality ( or their people).
Somehow they think they have a God given right.

We cannot see the future (most of us ).
The best we can do is glean into the past hoping to find out about something about the future.

Here is an example of somebody who did not look (or learn ) from the past.

Politics is not about the pursuit of morality nor what's right or wrong
Its about self interest at personal and national level often at odds with the above.
Great politicians pursue the National interest and small politicians personal interests

Karo it is a waste of time to debate any persons who lack basic understanding of geopolitics and history.
For the first time in more than 600 years, Armenia is free and independent, and we are therefore obligated
to place our national interests ahead of our personal gains or aspirations.

This statement does not hold water.
The whole point of a country joining an alliance (NATO etc ) is just that.
Your statement can be applied to many countries without the conclusion you are suggesting.
                    e.g.
West Germany (as it was then).
                    Japan
                    Saudi Arabia
                    South Korea
                    Taiwan
                    Israel
                    etc

Armenia had to judge how and from where her security would be best served.
                    Not surprisingly it was Russia.

Trying to make security arrangements with “other” parties also
would make things hopelessly confusing where to look in case of danger.

Russia cannot annex Armenia without the cooperation of the Armenian government and/or section of its population.
Naturally such an action would be treachery.

In the post-imperial stage, or rather neo-imperialism, an empire does not physically control another nation but rather via economic and/or political means.

In Armenia's case, Russia has clear interests in maintaining an Armenian presence in the Caucasus to act as a buffer against pan-turanism, the West, zionism, and even Iran. What Armenian leaders and the Armenian diaspora in Russia should do is continue to encourage official Moscow to treat Armenia as a strategic ally and provide it with weapons and economic investment.
